From Catania airport, take the A18 motorway towards Messina and exit at Fiumefreddo. From there go up towards Piedimonte Etneo. Before reaching the town, turn left towards Nunziata and continue for around 800 meters. You will see the house after a sequence of curves, at the top on your right. From the entrance gate, take the steep slope lined with columns. The climb requires some attention because it is narrow and with two curves. But once you get there you will find it is worth it.
The peculiarity of this house is not only the view, but also the fact of being in the countryside, surrounded by citrus and fruit trees, and being simultaneously close to both the sea (the Fiumefreddo beach is 10 minutes away by car) and the mountain. Furthermore, Taormina can be reached via the highway in about 25 minutes, in 15 minutes you can reach the Picciolo Golf Club, an 18-hole golf course, and the Riposto tourist port is also around 15 minutes away. There you can also rent sailboats to continue your holiday by exploring the east coast. In Fiumefreddo (5 km) there is also a flight field for hang gliders and microlights and a kart track. We are on the slopes of Etna, and the area is full of excursions, including the climb to the crater, a visit to the Alcantara river gorges and many typical restaurants. Even Catania, half an hour on the highway, reserves the surprise of a beautiful Baroque historic center.

Summary: The outdoor facilities are wonderfull with vue to the sea and Etna. The kids enjoyed the pool very much. House and terraces are very spacious and has much charm.

Summary: The view of both Mount Etna and the sea from here are both stunning. As other reviewers have said, the photos don't do it justice! Pietro is also an absolute gentleman and is very helpful. Facilities are somewhat rustic, but all work fantastically well. Location is great and you're not more than a 10 minute drive from anything you need.

Summary: A very nice house with a fantastic view of the Sea and of Etna. The house was larger than we expected from the pictures so lots of room inside and outside. Always possible to find a place in the sun or on shadow. Only problem is that the roads are narrow and not safe for walking. So it is necessary to drive for restaurants and shopping. Don’t rent a very large car, because the driveway up to the house is very narrow and steep. The owner was very helpful and available by telephone all the time.

Summary: We would like to thank Pietro for an amazing holiday in his beautiful house The outside patio is massive and wraps all around with stunning views of both the coast and the summit of Etna. Great location to explore This part of Sicily. Nothing was too much trouble for Pietro he met us at the toll road and took us to the house and was always available by phone if we needed him. Thank you so much again for letting us stay in your wonderful house and we will remember the views for a long time to come ! Jan & Graham

Summary: We spent two wonderful weeks in Mascali! Pietro is a great host and always available for questions. He cares very much that his guests are doing well. The communication was always easy and he had lots of tips on excursions and specialities in the area. The house is already a bit old, but it is very charming and well equipped with everything you need. There is also a very well equipped kitchen and plenty of space in the house, which can be inhabited very relaxed with seven people. But the best part is definetly the huge terrace, from which you have a gigantic view over the sea on one side and the Etna on the other side. The garden is also very well maintained and beautifully landscaped and our kids had lots of fun in the pool. Unfortunately, we have not been able to explore the entire area in two weeks, so we will definitely come back again. Many thanks to Pietro for the hospitality and the fantastic holidays!

Summary: If you want stainless steel and an infinity pool, this isn't the place for you. If you want stunning views, complete relaxation and lots of different laces to sit and catch a gentle breeze while you read your book, drink your wine or just stare off into the distance, this IS the place for you. The house is charming, clean and very well equipped. The photos don't really do it justice. Pietro was always helpful, friendly and available if you needed him. I would certainly recommend this house to friends. Do go to Taormino. It's worth a couple of visits. And, do go to the Café Cypriene near the Domo in Acireal. Its granitas make even Italian ice cream seem ordinary.

Summary: "A very nice location (Etna - Taormina - sea - Catania) in a quiet environment. The house is a bit old, but all the luxury you wish is available (pool, dishwasher, washingmachine, oven, bbq). Magnificent terrace with a lot of shadow facilities and beautiful views.
