The house is a 2-family house. The upper apartment with 2 bedrooms was completely renovated in 2015 and is of high quality and equipped with great attention to detail. The 3.5-room apartment is about 100 square meters. Both from the inside and from the approx. 30 m² large terrace, which you reach via a 4.5 m wide sliding door, you can enjoy the fantastic view of the lake and mountains.
It is possible, if necessary, in addition to book the lower apartment. The 2.5-room apartment is about 60 square meters and costs depending on the season between 30 and 45 EUR / day. Lake Maggiore:
The second largest lake in the Southern Alps is a dream destination for sun-loving Western Europeans and a tourist gem. Protected by the mighty alpine wreath, an almost subtropical microclimate has developed around the large deep blue water surface: flowers over flowers, palm trees, olive trees, oleander and evergreen holm oaks characterize the magnificent landscape. In the Swiss part of the lake with the fashionable towns of Locarno and Ascona, which incidentally has the most hours of sunshine in the "Sonnenstube in Switzerland", you can already sip your morning coffee in the sun while heating up further north in the Alps.
The wild valleys and mountain streams that are easy to reach from the north shore of Ticino, impress with great natural wonders. The Centovalli with its "Hundred Valleys", which has eaten the Melezza in the mountain, offers a treat of a special kind: a trip with the Centovallina through the main valley. The narrow-gauge train drives the Centovalli high above viaducts and through tunnels from Locarno, making the hearts of travelers beat faster. The Maggia Valley is especially popular in the lower part, as the Maggia forms great swimming pools there. The Verzasca Valley is wilder than the neighboring Maggia Valley. On the way to the Verzasca Valley you reach the huge dam wall of Lake Vorgona, which served as a film backdrop for a James Bond film. Bungee jumping is offered here at regular intervals. But most of the visitors come for a different reason: above the village of Lavertezzo, where there is an elegant two-arched bridge from the 17th century. The Verzacsa spans over fantastic bathing opportunities. The rock gives the water a dazzling green and long, polished rock ledges invite you to sunbathe.
In contrast to the lush west, on the eastern shore you will find quiet and unspoiled shores with many small and larger beaches; inviting bathing possibilities can be found especially around Castelveccana. The area offers attractive destinations and is ideal for hikers and cyclists or mountain bikers.
From Vira a winding road leads through the wild, dense and richly wooded valley of the Giona in the mountain village of Indeminni. The houses built of indigenous, gray gneiss with stone slab roofs and wooden arches characterize the uniform villagescape, which is considered one of the unadulterated mountain villages of Ticino with its alley labyrinth and the high stone houses. The largest city on the Lombard shore is Luino, which can be reached from the house in 15 minutes by car. Well-known is the centuries-old Wednesday market, which was initiated under Emperor Charles V and is one of the largest markets in northern Italy.
The town of Laveno is about 5 km south of the house. Laveno has the main port on the eastern shore. From here there is a ferry connection to the opposite shore (Intra). The over 1000 m high mountain of Laveno rises directly behind the city center. The magnificent excursion with the original open cable car gondolas to just below the top of Monte Sasso is recommended. Here you can expect a breathtaking view far over Lake Maggiore, its surroundings and the Alps. For a climb to the summit you have to plan about 30 minutes. Right next to the mountain station is a developed starting point for hang-gliding and paragliding. Another highlight in the area around Laveno are the waterfalls of Cittiglio.
Somewhat sinful of Laveno is one of the most popular destinations on Lake Maggiore - the Hermitage of Santa Caterina del Sasso. A church reaching back to the Middle Ages in its origins nestles only a few meters above the water on the steep shore wall. From here you get one of the most beautiful views of Lake Maggiore.
