Positive: Excellent location, slope-side and very close to the village. Rooms were clean and comfortable, although housekeeping was very hit and miss. The hotel has a nice large pool and 5 hot tubs. The bar area was pleasant, although could not accommodate the numbers of people. There were fire-pits outside which were fun to make S'mores in. The ski concierge was very useful and staffed with very friendly and helpful people. We had some initial teething problems when we arrived, however the hotel reception and admin staff were very helpful in sorting them out.
Negative: Overall the hotel was quite impersonal, which became worse as our stay progressed, mainly due to the number of guests arriving. Although the hotel was a lovely place to be in, the common areas were not big enough to accommodate everyone as the hotel filled up. The restaurant and bar menus were very limited and extortionately priced for what was on offer. Our experience of when we did use the restaurant was not great, (eg. they brought out the starters after the main course, slow service etc), so we didn't continue to eat in the hotel. We also decided not to have breakfast within the hotel as it was extortionately priced for us at $49 per person per day, including children over 12. This may be acceptable fo others, but as 4 of us were staying for 12 days, it would have cost us thousands, which was too much for a bowl of oatmeal and a coffee. The d]selection of items on offer was excellent, but we are not big breakfast eaters. Washing facilities were available, but all were chargeable, which is odd for a premier ski resort. Also, on our first attempt of trying to do some laundry, 3 out of the 3 washing machines were not working, although each machine did take a payment. Reception were helpful and managed to get one working for us and did refund the extra charges, but this was after much to-ing and fro-ing. The hotel in principle was a lovely place to stay, but with all the small issues, our stay wasn't relaxing. However, having said that, the hotel did try and resolve all our issues. It was just annoying that we had so many.
Summary: Great hotel, but they need to get things operating in a better way. Takes the edge off 'premium'.
