Positive: Its location was fantastic. It was comfortable, warm and clean. It accommodated our family easily. The views from both front and back and it had sitting out areas front and back. It was well equipped.
Negative: We had to wait for 45 minutes to get into the property while the cleaners(who were working hard) finished. The chairs in the kitchen felt old and some were on their last legs(literally). The kettle was erratic and the coffee machine required capsules which wouldn’t have been available in Elie. I had read about this in a review so took our own cafetière with us. The grill pan was really dirty when we arrived(I cleaned it). The instructions for the heating were not to be found so all we could do was turn the temp up or down which felt wasteful. The microwave started sparking and so couldn’t be used. There was a loose lane of glass in the kitchen door which was in danger of falling out. On the last night the main lights tripped and although the fuse box was found we couldn’t sort it so using the toilets was a challenge! There was very heavy rain during the last night and water poured down the outside of the front of the building due to blocked guttering. We used the back door a lot and it would have benefitted from having a functioning latch.In short, the house could do with a bit of TLC.
Summary: We had a marvellous stay in Earlsferry; the location of the house meant access to the beach and coastal walks was quick

Positive: Beaufort House has a sea view front and back and is a stone's throw away from the beach. Lovely walks from the house. The house is detached. On street parking was okay. There is a shower room on the ground floor and a bathroom upstairs. The 19th Hole pub is a short walk away and serves excellent food. The Pavillion Cafe a bit further away was very good too.
Negative: We were rather surprised to find one of the twin rooms was in fact a bunk room. It would appear different information was available depending on the web search. We would not have booked had we known. The house name placed on the gate would make the property easier to find, with no door number and the door lower than street level it was not easily found. We discovered a mountain of debris including broken glass under the twin beds in the downstairs room, we had moved the beds to provide a bedside table on both sides. The wooden blinds were very dusty too. In fairness we never met the hosts but the reply to an email asking for details on the coffee machine was not helpful, we were told a filter machine, it was a brand machine Tassimo. There was a general lack of care, no oven gloves, providing only one tea towel for a full house of 9 and no dishwasher tablets. No first aid kit, is this not a prerequisite? Guest information was scant, and misleading. No visitors book.
Summary: We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend in beautiful Earlsferry despite the few minor inconveniences.
