Tucked away near the Blue Ridge Mountains, yet only minutes from Lake James and Morganton, is a great family style retreat. Ask about our access to golf cart rental, it has to be reserved ahead of time since it is offsite. You are lodging in style but have the feel of practically camping! The home is updated with 4 bedrooms, and 2 baths and is located at the end of a private road. Surrounded by woods, there is only one other home in sight. The best part of this retreat is the two ponds, one for swimming which has concrete sides and a sandy bottom and is fed from a fresh spring, the other is for catch and release fishing and has bass, crappie, blue gill, and more. Above the swimming pond is an outdoor covered cooking area with sink, refrigerator, and electricity for large outdoor entertaining. If you want to enjoy nature while lodging in comfort, this is the perfect balance. You are only minutes away from local wineries, Lake James, Morganton downtown shopping, restaurants, craft breweries, Catawba River, parks and trails. You can also jump on I-40 and travel to nearby Asheville in only 50 minutes. We welcome corporate bookings also.
Owner disclosure to guests: The Swimming pond is seasonal from late Spring to early September. This rental is located within a larger family tract and the family does reserve the right to access the property and use both ponds. Renter does have full access to both ponds and picnic shelter but it may not be exclusive. Feel free to contact the property manager to inquire about use. The owner had indicated that July 4th and the first Sunday in August, there will be family members using the common area until 3pm. All booked guests are always welcome to also use the areas and join any activities. Feel free to contact the owner directly.

Summary: We loved our stay! Fishing was great and the golf cart was an added bonus. Biscuit the dog will be missed by our kiddos who fell in love with him. The house was clean and well equipped, plenty of room for our family of 6. Close proximity to Morganton and many other NC attractions. We will be back!

Summary: My family loved this property! We were visiting family in the area and the location and size were perfect. The property is large and secluded, and with access to the two ponds it felt like we were staying at a private summer camp. Bring your fishing poles as the fishing pond is well stocked! I would also recommend bringing life vests for smaller children as the swimming pond is deep. The manager of the property was very responsive and helpful before and during our stay. When we arrived we found a freshly baked coconut cake in the refrigerator and it was fabulous! Even those of us who don’t generally like coconut loved it! We will definitely stay here again when we’re visiting family.

Summary: We enjoyed our stay here. The house was clean and very spacious. The best part of this property is the privacy. There is only one other house within direct line of sight but otherwise it is completely surrounded by woods. The house is also close to a lot of hiking trails and other attractions. Would definitely book this property again.

Summary: The photos were accurate and the property was beautiful. We enjoyed the fishing and swimming and the house was comfortable for everyone. Really close to the Highway but you can't hear the noise at all. It's definitely secluded which we liked but pretty close to downtown Morganton. Thank you for hosting us!

Summary: What a great spot! Access to golf cart to roam the grounds- most amazing pond for catch and release bass, crappie, pumpkin seed- house is super cozy- reclining couches were heaven. Beds and linens are good quality…Great place to unwind!

Summary: Overall this property met our needs. There were a few, very minor, standard kitchen items missing. We informed the property manager, I'm confident the owner will take care of it. All in all this eas a very nice comfortable property.

Summary: This was the perfect location and convienent to see our son and his children for our spring break. Plenty of room for everyone. It looked like the pictures. The weather was great and we really enjoyed the fishing at the private pond. The cocnut cake that was waiting for us upon arrival was a nice treat
