2 Bedroom House in Trevi, Manciano

This secluded hideaway is ideal for those wanting to enjoy some peace and quiet and get away from it all. A 15th century restored stone house set amongst the olive groves. Standing 485 metres above sea level with 180° panoramic view over the Valle Umbra which reaches from Perugia in the north to Spoleto in the south.
The house was fully restored in 2006 and has all modern conveniences such as underfloor heating, solar panels, wet room shower, wi-fi, dishwasher, washing machine and large fridge freezer. The kitchen is well equipped and boasts a large dining table for entertaining. The lounge has exposed chestnut beams, high ceilings and comfortable seating. Both have spectacular views. The 2 ample, tranquil double bedrooms are downstairs so are cool in summer and both have doors leading straight out onto the garden.
Outside there is a shady dining area for lunches al fresco, and sun loungers for relaxing with a good book. For the evenings there is a BBQ area at the front on the house from which to enjoy a glass of local Montefalco wine and enjoy the sun setting over the other side of the valley.
The local town of Trevi is 10 minutes away by car and boasts a good selection of restaurants, a pizzeria with outside eating in the summer, two bars and a number of convenience stores. The town also has a large civic swimming pool with cafe which is open throughout the summer. Also 10 minutes away is a shopping mall with a large supermarket and other outlets.
The house is accessed by a "white" non tarmaced road. A 4x4 vehicle is advisable. However a Jeep can be made available to transfer from the main road to the house if required.
For those wanting some nightlife then Foligno is well worth a visit. It has a very good bar scene and a number of good restaurants.
The house is an ideal base from which to visit the many stunning towns of Umbria. From Assisi to Montefalco, Foligno to Spello. There are many walking trails including the the San Francescan way which passes below the house.

Summary: We enjoyed a wonderful 2 weeks in this authentic house. The house is well renovated and almost fully equipped with all you need for the living. From the house you have a great view over the valley as well as the city Trevi. There is a nice garden around the house where you can sit in the sun or shade whatever you wish. However, in summertime the temperatures in Umbrië are quite high and it would be appreciated if the house had not one but at least two large cooling fans. We bought an extra one locally to keep the temperatures (especially during the nights) at a more appreciable level. The road from the little village to the house is steep and rough and not easy to drive with a standard car. Hence, we received the keys of a 4-wheel drive car which we could use for the full period. This was really great and made the stay at the remote location even more rewarding!

Summary: There’s nothing much to add since our last stay - obviously we like it here. It’s a quiet, very well appointed house with a lovely view. Booking and staying there was extremely uncomplicated, thanks to Adrian and Ralf. Looking forward to our next time around!

Summary: We really loved this place right from the first steps into and around this beautiful house. We felt very close to nature, spectacular sunrises and sunsets, the winds, birds and sometimes little wild boars. Fantastic views from alll rooms and the garden. We cooked a lot in the fabulous kitchen and when we were out, we had great lunches and dinners in Perugia (Osteria A Priori), Trevi (Vecchia Posta), Spello (Enoteca Properzio) and many others. Great wine tasting at Colleallodole in Bevagna and aperitifs in Montefalco. In short, a great way to discover Umbria. We were welcomed by Ralf who showed us the place and was available any time. He offered us the 4 wheel drive for the navel path, but we didn’t use it. It is fine to get there with a small car. Nice welcome wine and Adrian‘s own olive oil and his book of recipes, a really pleasant way to be received.

Summary: The stone farmhouse has amazing views of Trevi. It is spacious and comfortable. I loved waking up in the master bedroom in early morning and seeing the play of light on the stone walls. We cooked dinners every night in the roomy kitchen, some inspired by the owner's own cookbook, a copy of which we brought home to continue our Italian getaway. Getting from the main street in town down the track, through the olive grove to the house was an adventure. Luckily, the owner provides an old SUV you can use to travel from the town church, where we parked our rental car most evenings, to the house and back.

Summary: Even while our first week last April hadn’t ended, we knew for certain that we wanted to come back here. September is quite a different season, but felt like summer still, only with more insects ;-) The house is soo cosy and complete, it feels like home away from home. We’ll be back, if not next year, the year after, but we’ll be back. And a big thankyou to Ralf who is always there when you need him

Summary: We stayed at Casa Margherita for a week in July. Not long enough! Access to the property is a little bit hairy, down an unmade road in a tiny hamlet, but you get used to that pretty quickly. The house is beautifully done out, with everything you would need. There’s WiFi, an excellent selection of books, CDs and DVDs if you should want them. We didn’t turn the TV on. We spent our time exploring the area. Trevi, a short drive away, is a wonderful hill town, lots of alleys and hidden treasures to explore. Great restaurants too. We loved Caffe Roma on Piazza Mazzini for coffee, spritz and gelato. I hope we can return to the house and the area.

Summary: We had a lovely stay at this house. The views from the back windows down the hill and onto Trevi are extraordinary, like framed paintings. The stone house is roomy, beautifully renovated, and artistically and eclectically decorated. The mattress was extremely comfortable in the main bedroom. We had no need of air conditioning in June. As promised, the downstairs stayed cold--enough so that a quilt was needed at night. The kitchen was great for cooking. Great bathroom with a tub, also. We loved the isolation and peacefulness of the location. There are no neighboring dwellings in sight. The patio area in the back of the house is a wonderful place to relax or have a meal. We also visited the surrounding hill towns--Assisi, Spoleto, Perugia (terrific meal at al mangiar bene and the gelato at Gambrinus). As this is a newer property, I'll mention a couple of things that might be helpful to renters. The house is located down a stretch of bumpy dirt road; it wasn't a problem to drive in our smallish rental car. The seclusion means that the house is initially a bit hard to navigate to and from. After being escorted to the property on the first day, we couldn't at first have found our way out and back again without GPS or Google maps. After a day, you'll have all of the roads figured out and getting around will seem easy, but I'd suggest making sure you have access to a map or GPS for the first couple of trips. Very responsive owners. Highly recommended!

Summary: It was love at first site. Casa Margherita sits tucked away between the olive trees and once you step inside it's am oasis of art, design and vintage in a wonderfully harmonious blend. Yet the house has all you need, from super beds to a lovely bathroom and a kitchen with everything a chef needs. We loved it so much we booked a second stay right away. Super!
