VRBO UK Holiday Home of The Year 2022! The quintessential country cottage set in its own private grounds. The cottage has something for everybody of all ages. Exclusive to guests and extremely secure in fenced grounds with no direct neighbours, surrounded by countryside and farming. Behind the electric gates sits a fantastic tranquil escape away from the pressures of day to day life, perfect for large families and groups . The grounds boast mature gardens, paddock and sprawling lawns.
The property has six bedrooms with a double sofabed available in a downstairs room that can make up to a seventh bedroom. Four of the six bedrooms are en-suite, with the other two bedrooms sharing the main bathroom. The Master Bedroom has a walk-in wardrobe bigger than your usual box room. Some families use this space with the double Z bed to make the Master bedroom into a family room. Downstairs there is large kitchen / breakfast area, separate dining room, Snug, Pool table and table tennis games room, conservatory, main lounge and utility room. Just outside is the patio which has ample seating, hot tub, fire pit and waterfall. The gardens have standard swings a large trampoline aswell as a large rope swing. Unlike some other properties there are no extra charges for hot tub , Pool table , table tennis etc you can use as much as you wish. Overlooking the main patio area is very large balcony with full glass front to make most of south facing views of the Staffordshire countryside. The cottage is a mix of the traditional with Oak floors / beams and doors with a twist of the modern.
Should you wish to venture outside the grounds were situated in the South Staffordshire Countryside around a mile from the village of Penkridge which has great pubs / restaurants aswell as being located on the Staffordshire and Worcestershire canal. The village hold its twice weekly markets every Wednesday and Saturday. For the outdoor types your a few minutes from Cannock Chase which provides fantastic scenery and walks, aswell as a GoApe activity for the more adventurous. Staffordshire is also home of Alton Towers and Drayton Manor Theme Parks. If shopping is more for you your 10 mins drive from Wolverhampton or Stafford and around 25 mins from Birmingham all of which are easily and swiftly accessed from Penkridge train station.

Summary: We had such an amazing stay at ‘the cottage’! We started as 4 and finished as 13 plus a couple of dogs…. The grounds and house are beautiful. Paul is the best host. If you’re looking for a house that’s brilliant enough to enjoy all together but also big enough to take yourself off if you need some space this is perfect! Summary: Absolutely loved our stay and did not want to leave! We booked for my 40th birthday with a family group of 10 adults and children. The place is beautiful! Huge house with lots to do and see, glad we didn’t plan to go anywhere and just enjoyed our time in the house and gardens The hot tub, table tennis, trampoline, swings, pool table and gardens kept us all entertained You are spoilt for choice with rooms and outdoor seating, we all felt there was loads of space to spread out or come together and we all got lost a few times on the first day which was fun The master bedroom with en-suite, huge walk in wardrobe and balcony is a showstopper Not much in walking distance but a 5 minute pop in the car and there were plenty of places to eat and shop Paul was an absolute pleasure to deal with, so friendly, funny and on hand if needed We just wish we had booked for longer and would not hesitate to book and stay again

Summary: We needed a venue for our family of 7 adults and 6 children to meet together, which provided space both inside and out. The cottage which the children renamed ‘the mansion’ exceeded all expectations. Paul the host was exceptionally helpful and responded immediately to any questions or requests. The memories we made there will stay with us forever. It’s a wonderful venue and we would recommend it highly to anyone lucky enough to be able stay there.

Summary: We have spent 3 nights at this beautiful house. We booked it for our 70th birthday celebrations. 8 adults 7 children and 4 dogs. It was perfect for our needs. The children loved the freedom of the outdoor space, the seating areas and hot tub were amazing. I couldnt fault it in anyway. Paul, the host was extremely accommodating too. We were able to access the house earlier on the Friday and we didnt feel rushed to leave at 19 on the Monday. A few items of clothing were leftbehind, Paul text me the same day and posted them the following day and wouldnt let me reimburse him. So very kind. All in all I would definitely recommend this property for a large family group.

Summary: We visited this property over new year as a family of 16. Everything about this property was perfect! Communication from the host was excellent from start to finish. Messages that were sent before hand, during and after our stay were all answered quickly and efficiently and Paul couldn't have been more helpful. The check in and check out process we also found to be informative and efficient. The property was clean and to a high standard. The kitchen was very well equipped, which was perfect for our big new years dinner for 16 people. The children (and adults!) all enjoyed the pool table, hot tub and the beautiful garden and we wouldn't hesitate to return!

Summary: The house is excellent, with lots of bedrooms (most with en suites) as well as other rooms with different functions (large lounge, games room, sun room). The kitchen is well equipped with crockery and cutlery, as well as plenty of space and several refrigerators. The house has several TVs with full Sky package, and Wi-Fi. The garden is huge and well secured for our dog to run around, and the additional land behind also made for another area for her to explore. Well designed with a decking and a patio area, hot tub and decking. Paul is an excellent host, with great communication and quick to answer questions before our visit, as well as while we were there. He met us on arrival and showed us around the property, pointing out everything we needed to know. Location is excellent, with easy access to neighbouring towns and villages, but it's rural location makes it a quiet getaway place. We would definitely stay here again for another wider family break - the weather wasn't brilliant when we stayed but with the house and the facilities being as they are, you don't really need to leave the house.
