2 Bedroom House in Old Chatham

Sweet retreat perfectly located for exploring Columbia County, the Berkshires, or simply lazing on the lawn with lemonade and a good book. Completely renovated in 2019, the cottage has an open layout kitchen, living room and dining area. There are 2 bedrooms, including a spacious master with French Doors leading out to the yard. The house is set in a sunny meadow surrounded by woods with views of the Berkshire mountains. Walk down a grassy path and you’ll wind up at a bass filled pond complete with an ancient dock. We’re told it’s swimmable, though to be honest, none of us have ventured in yet. For hiking, there’s a spectacular Conservation area a mile down the road.
The house has everything you need to live and work comfortably. The kitchen is designed for people who love to cook and is equipped with all new appliances including dishwasher, stove, oven, refrigerator, microwave and coffeemaker. The cottage has central AC and heating, a washer/dryer, WiFi and TV with an Amazon Firestick. We live in the Main House up the dirt road at Raccoon Forks. However, we’re only there on weekends, so you probably won’t see us.
As your hosts, we believe it’s important to be readily available via phone, text or email should you have questions. If you don’t reach us immediately, we’ll get back to you within minutes. Though we live in New York City, we have a local caretaker who can make a house call if you need in-person help.

Summary: I stayed late fall. It was clean and well equipped with everything you might need. Very private which I prefer. Beautiful scenery surrounding the home. Kitchen was enjoyable to cook in with the windows overlooking the property. The bed was super comfy. I appreciate that the host let me stay with my fur babies. Host was communicative with answering any questions. Looking forward to my next visit.

Summary: This is a very cute house situated on a beautiful property! We enjoyed the location, perfect for exploring the Hudson Valley area. Communication with Bob was easy and prompt. The kitchen appliances were very nice, and there was plenty of counter space to work on. Two minor things to note: We found the wi-Fi connection to be a bit spotty, but we made due. Also, the house is filled with beautiful natural light, but there are no substantial window coverings (except the bathroom.) Just be prepared for bright sunny bedrooms! Finally, it has to be said how much enjoyment my husband had fishing in the pond on property! As a catch-and-release fisherman, he was kept very busy by the many bass at home in that pond! It was a great stay, and I would definitely recommend.

Summary: Cottage is in a lovely location - very private, quiet, and accessible to venues in the Berkshire environs. The owner was very responsive to questions. There had clearly been a lot of attention paid to details that would enhance the stay - books, games, and charcoal for an out door grill. For our longer stay I missed having a convenient place to organize clothes in the master bedroom. Check in and out was easy.

Summary: Communication with the host was outstandingly excellent. He was prompt, courteous, and helpful. The rental was bucolic, private, and peaceful. Much better than any of the hotels in the area; we would definitely stay here again.

Summary: My wife and i plus our poodle, Wally, had a wonderful time. The home is even lovelier than the pictures, and the kitchen is well stocked with everything we needed for a two week+ stay. The grounds including the pond were a private oasis but very close to Chatham and easy rides into many other towns worth exploring. We would definitely stay here again.

Summary: The location is ideal - very pretty and near restaurants, parks, Tanglewood and Lenox. We arrived to find a comfortable and spotless house, with great beds, wonderful linens and a good strong shower. If we had any questions, Bob was easy to reach. My family and I had a wonderful time at the cottage and would happily return.

Summary: Robert was extremely easy to work with and patiently helped us extend our stay twice. The house was very nice and well maintained. I loved the privacy of the spot where it was, there was caretaker staying right down the road that I didn't end up needing help from but was comforting to know about, especially since he was far enough down that I still felt complete privacy. It was also easy to get to the parkway and Chatham so I was able to get everything I needed during my stay. I will definitely book it if I need somewhere in the area to stay again!
