Inside has 11 bedrooms each with their own bath; dining area with extra refrigerator, coffee pots, tables and chairs; kitchen with stove, fridge, microwave, toaster oven, deep large sinks for clean up; sun room with tables and chairs overlooking river; decks outside with tables and chairs with river and mountain view; lounge area with sofas, TV, board games, playing cards; fire pit in the center of patio outside, rec room with conference table, pool table, ping pong, and foosball, outside charcoal grill; corn hole toss, basketball and horseshoe pit, and walking trails to the river, and through the woods; Household items include broom dustpan, mop and bucket. Fire extinguishers and smoke detectors are located in facility. Note: Perfect for any type of reunion, conference, or family vacation. No washer and dryer.

Summary: We had 4 generations of family aged 18 to 90, renting out the whole property. Perfect spot for this. Plenty of beds, commercial kitchen, play room and close to a ton of activities such as lazy river float, Monticello and golf. Also plenty of space for 25 people to be doing different things in the property. Nice, secluded, with beautiful views. Our entire family appreciated the time together and would highly recommend this place.

Summary: The setting is gorgeous and the property is comfortable, well stocked, and well suited for our relaxed family reunion. Some of us never left the property for the weekend, enjoying all the amenities (including the zip line and the hot tub) while some of us ventured out to explore the nearby town and wineries. There are many areas to gather as a large group, both inside and outside, and the beauty of the setting can't be beat! Walter and Susan were VERY helpful throughout out planning process and stay!

Summary: My entire family came into town for my graduation from UVA and this property was perfect for the mini family reunion that resulted. They are incredibly responsive and do all they can to ensure you have a good stay. Be sure to talk about what is needed when you visit (like towels) but the store is close by if you find you need something! A great stay overall!

Summary: Worth every penny. We (a family of 36) rented the entire Inn. It is a hidden gem. An Inn, tucked away in the hills of Virginia, with years of memories and stories within its walls. It is beautiful, serene and the views are priceless. If you come prepared (food, towels, toiletries) you will not have to leave. There are so many family oriented games (indoor and outdoor) that nobody could possibly get bored. Campfires at night, coffee in the morning overlooking the river. Great hiking trails with a teeter totter along the way. Walter and Anita (the owners) are beautiful people. It was a grand reunion and wonderful time.

Summary: Our extended family had a magical reunion at the James River Inn. Against a backdrop of the James River and beautiful sunsets, we most appreciated the private bathrooms in each bedroom, the huge great room for visiting and dining, and the game room, and Walter was onsite helping however he could. Some aspects of the inn are outdated and ¨ẗired,¨ but if you can overlook these, it´s a great spot for a gathering.

Summary: Walt was awesome. We used the space for a corporate retreat and we all had a blast. We hiked the grounds, had some meetings in the living room, catered some meals in and made good use of the downstairs playroom. We would do it again.
