3 Bedroom House in Rockland

A true piece of Rockland’s history! Built in 1890 at the height of the copper mining boom, this home was built by the President of the Michigan Mine. He actually lived next door but had this home built for a place for the Doctor to live with his sickly son. This home has been completely renovated yet the aesthetics of the home have been retained..
Guests will have full access to this 2300 square foot home with floor to ceiling windows in all rooms except the bathrooms and kitchen. This Traditional/ Victorian home has a unique double staircase that will bring you upstairs from the foyer or the kitchen and has everything needed for a great vacation in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. You can sit and sip your morning coffee on the front porch or end your evening watching the sun set enjoying a glass of wine while listening to the fountain in the nearby rose garden. A great place for kids and adults with 3 separate bedrooms plus full-size dining room and other common areas.
The kitchen has a large gas stove, a full-size convection oven/microwave, dishwasher and full-size fridge with ice maker. The cupboards are completely stocked with dishes, dish towels, all Pampered Chef cookware, utensils, knife block, built in cutting board and utensils. There is also a pantry stocked with basic cooking ingredients and spices so you will pretty much have everything you need for meal prep/cooking. There is also a coffee pot, bean grinder, a Keurig with coffee pods, blender, crockpot and if you request it there can also be a air-fryer, insta-pot and grill/griddle available for use.
Upstairs twin beds in one room are great for the kiddos with fort building toys, blocks, play food, coloring books and crayons and a large assortment of toddler books available. The spacious living room area downstairs makes it ideal for low-key socializing and family gatherings. There are 2 beautiful fireplaces in the home but they are for decorative purposes only as they are designed to burn coal. Large gatherings such as weddings are not permitted.
For your comfort the home is zoned in the upstairs and downstairs and there is gas furnace and central air-conditioning. There is a full size washer and dryer in the easily accessible upstairs of the home for your use if you wish. There also are Alexa’s in each bedroom and in the common areas downstairs. There is also a large Webber gas grill outside for your outdoor cooking with seating in Adirondack chairs around an outdoot gas fire pit. >
This will be a must-have experience to stay in this home. You are surrounded by beautiful antiques yet comfortable furniture for your lazy mornings and cuddle-up evenings. We look forward to having you as a first-time guest and returning in the future as a friend.

Summary: We had a great time! It's a beautifully maintained and luxurious vintage home in the northwestern Upper Peninsula of Michigan. In addition to the beautiful house, it was very clean, and there were lots of pots, pans, dishes, etc in the kitchen, which also had more machines/appliances than we've got at home (e.g., Keurig coffee, air fryer, etc), and a washer and dryer for clothes. The fridge came stocked with milk, bread, and a carton of eggs, as well as lots of food on the pantry shelves, so we didn't need to go to the store that first night. (The small local General Store was also well stocked and we enjoyed Philly cheese steak sandwiches at Henry's Never Inn, a local bar-restaurant, THE local bar-restaurant, which dates back to the 1890's.) There were even bandages and allergy pills, etc in the medicine cabinet and lots of channels on the TV. Outside, there's a great gathering place on the front porch and in the yard more chairs, a conversation area around a fire-table, plus a Weber gas grill, where we made s'mores and enjoyed the stars. The five of us had a wonderful time - thank you, Karen & Robert!

Summary: This was the perfect retreat for our group of 5 teachers on a summer UP road trip. The owners didn’t miss a thing from the beautiful decor to the well-stocked fridge and everything in between. The house was immaculately clean and very well organized. Hike the Porcupine Mountains (just a little over half an hour away), come back to this retreat to soak in the jetted tub, then spend a cool evening with a glass of wine in an Adirondack chair next to the beautiful gas fireplace in the backyard. Back inside, there are plenty of nooks and crannies for 5 middle-aged women to play a rousing game of sardines! :D Our only regret is that we didn’t stay longer. We highly recommend this property for your UP getaway!

Summary: What a beautiful home. Extremely clean and well stocked. Having milk, eggs and bread already there and not needing to go to the store was fantastic (who knows where that is a store when you first get to a new place). The kitchen has every small appliance you could possible need (Pampered Chef) and a coffee bar that is totally stocked. The pantry was stocked with possible items one might forget to bring which was fantastic. The Master bedroom and bath was a dream. My young adult sons enjoyed the Alexa is every room and having the ability to connect to the Wifi. This home is beautifully decorated. The gas grill was brand new with all the grilling utensils and there was a great little gas fire pit. We loved the house and enjoyed using the home as a home base to explore the Keweenaw Peninsula and its interesting history; Plus, a University visit. The property managers were quick to answer questions and made sure we had everything we needed.

Summary: This property is FABULOUS! The home is clean, comfortable and impeccably furnished/decorated. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you can imagine or need. The fridge was stocked with water, milk, bread and eggs. Hosts Robert and Karen really go the extra mile! Communication with them is wonderful and they really went the extra mile to be sure we had everything we needed and then some. We enjoyed sitting on the comfortable front porch in the morning sipping tea and watching the baby robins, as well as a glass of wine at sunset. This is a beautifully restored historic home with every modern convenience you can imagine. I highly recommend this property. You won’t want to leave!!!

Summary: The house was impeccable! Karen thought of everything and created such a beautiful retreat for our long-awaited sisters reunion. It offered every amenity and then some, from the fluffy, plush towels, to the well stocked kitchen/refrigerator which included everything for your cooking needs, fresh eggs, milk, bread, butter, and water. The front porch was an oasis, it had several comfortable rocking chairs and a glider, beautiful flowers, a bubbling fountain, and a momma robin and her babies nestled in the eves. Our hosts very obviously poured a lot of love into the meticulous restoration of this historic house, but all of their special touches made it a home away from home! We will definitely be back and cannot recommend this home and hosts more highly! Five stars aren’t nearly enough for this gem.

Summary: We booked this property for 2 nights last weekend on our trip to Upper Michigan for my brother's graduation. The house looks just like in the pictures if not even more beautiful. The attention to detail in every corner of the house is immaculate. The bathrooms were super clean and plenty of towels and basic amenities were provided. The bedrooms were also in excellent condition. The neighborhood felt quiet and safe. The living room was nice and cozy. The kitchen was well stocked and there was more than everything you need to prepare a nice meal. Karen and Robert (hosts of this property) were excellent and couldn’t have provided a better service. They communicated with me well in advance and made sure I had all the information to access the house and quickly answered any questions we had. There were 6 adults in our group and every single one of us was thoroughly satisfied with our stay here. If you are visiting the area and contemplating booking this place, don’t hesitate. You will definitely enjoy your stay here! Both the property and hosts deserve 5 stars.
