***Update***Due to Otter Tail County updating regulations on short-term rental properties we have not been able to open the summer dates. The property needs to be inspected by the county health department and that can't be done until spring. Assuming everything passes we'll open up the calendar at that time. Quaint cottage on the north shore of Swan Lake just outside of Fergus Falls, MN. The cottage is situated near the end of a dead end road, so there is very little traffic or noise. This is a very family friendly spot. It's perfect for a vacation, a quick getaway, or just enjoying the beautiful nature around you. Relax in the spacious screen porch and play cards, watch the birds or catch up on some reading. Drop a line off the dock and catch some sunnies and occasionally something bigger!
There are two bedrooms and a bunk room. One bedroom has a full sized bed and sleeps two. The other bedroom has a queen sized bed and sleeps two. The bunk room has two single (twin sized) beds. There is also a hideaway couch. The couch might not be overly comfortable for adults, but it is just fine for kids. The hideaway can sleep two.
The screen porch is a versatile and popular hangout. There is a table and chairs for eating meals and playing games, or grab a cold beverage out of the mini fridge in the attached bunk room and just relax and converse. The porch boasts floor to ceiling screens and sliding windows. Slide the windows all the way down for that outdoor feeling or close them for some wind protection on a breezy day.
We have a dock with stairs to get in and out of the lake easily and a boat lift (for boats up to 2400 lbs) available for use. The lake is great for water sports or fishing! Bring your toys and have a blast. A kayak and paddle board are available for use upon request. We have an assortment of life jackets as well.
Less than a mile away is the Central Lakes Trail. It's a 55-mile paved bike trail that stretches from Fergus Falls to Osakis. Bring your bikes, roller blades or running shoes to get some exercise in the beautiful Otter Tail county countryside. Enjoy views of lakes, rivers, flowers, wildlife and more!
Swan Lake is a great fishing lake with sunfish, walleye, northern, large mouth bass and crappies. The locals are tight lipped about their honey holes, but take it from a novice fisherman, they're not hard to find.

Summary: It was a quite location. Kids loved the kayak. Fishing was great. We were able to rent a fishing boat and pontoon from the resort on the lake.

Summary: We didn’t spend much time at the cabin. Mainly later evenings and sleeping. We were a little disappointed in the third bedroom with a configuration of two bunks that we’re not for adults but mainly young teenagers to children. Having at least one more adult bed would have been great. It was very clean, cozy and homey again for our needs. Thanks to the owners who were great to work with. 😊

Summary: MN lake cabin, perfect for our stay in the area for a family reunion we were attending. Owner was quick to respond when we had a problem with the keyless entry and fixed the problem right away. Swan Lake is really nice for boating and fishing, close to the interstate and to Fergus Falls for anything we needed.

Summary: This property reminds me of being at the lake with my family when I was young. This is a charming place with great lake décor. It is equipped with everything a person needs for a great stay. The bed we used was comfortable. We took advantage of the kayak and paddle board, enjoyed playing some Yahtzee and Dominoes! The only thing you should be aware of is the bathroom is very small and the shower leaves something to be desired. This is very typical of a lake cabin and seems like every cabin I have ever stayed in like this have been the same. It certainly doesn't change my mind that this is a great place to spend a summer day! We loved staying here and even met a neighbor who were very nice to chat with.

Summary: Our week at Swan Lake will be remembered as a special family time filled with water activities, July 4th boat parade and fireworks, bike rides on the Central Lake trail, fishing off a rented pontoon and lots of delicious summertime food. The Strand’s cabin was full of books, games and all the amenities a person could need. Everyone felt at home and didn’t want to leave. Thank you Christopher and Brandy!

Summary: We especially liked the sun room. We enjoyed the birds and squirrels and chipmunk. It was nice being close to the lake. My daughter and grand daughter used the kayak and paddle board. The kitchen was large and well equipped. The beds were comfortable. There are many beautiful landscapes nearby.
