Spring offers amazing wildflowers, summer is when Phoenix comes here to the mountains for cooler weather, , fall is beautiful & winter offers snow but not too much. All seasons are great times to visit the Prairie!
Drive along beautiful Garland Prairie Road amidst majestic Ponderosa Pines on your way to the farm. You will be WOWED as you can view Elk and Antelope! You can also walk to the ORIGINAL Homestead from this rural prairie! Just 30 minutes away from historic Williams, Route 66 and Grand Canyon Railway (A 2 hour one-way ride straight to the Grand Canyon with a Wild West show on the way). You will also be only 30 minutes away from beautiful downtown Flagstaff for shopping. Fish at nearby lakes in the summer and ski on Williams mountain in the winter. Visit Bearizona, where you can drive through more than 3 miles of North American animals in natural habitats or take a walk in their "zoo" type setting. There is also a NEW sledding area and mountain rollercoaster!! So much to do!!!! So much fun to have!!!!
Our 1500 sq ft Ranch style home is surrounded on 3 sides by National Forest, beautifully decorated and updated with spectacular 360 degree views of ponderosa pine covered mountains, including San Francisco Peak! Two of the bedrooms have an adjoining shared bathroom. One with a Double/twin bunk and the other with two twins. The master has a King bed and on-suite.
On the property you can enjoy a BBQ, and a 2 mile round-trip walk to the historic homestead from our home. There is a Stock pond on the property which Herons, Ducks and other wildlife have been known to visit from time to time. Please enjoy the scenery but don't get wet.
You will feel like you are far away "from it all" but are really only 7.5 miles from Highway 40 easily accessed by a forest service well- maintained road.

Summary: We spent New Years at the property and it was exactly what we were looking for quiet getaway able to stars at night . The pond was a short walk and our 13 year old and myself would walk to it at least once a day to see how much it was frozen over. The internet worked great and it was very nice weekend for the whole family.

Summary: This was our 2nd visit to the property. With 3 adult kids in 3 separate states, it provided a perfect place to celebrate 5 birthdays, Thanksgiving, and an early Christmas. The beds are comfortable, there are ample games and movies, and the kitchen served our big group nicely for the week. The hosts are responsive and easy to get ahold of. We inadvertantly tested this with a miscommunication about who had the house keys (Nobody! They got locked inside!!). We were as happy with our 2nd stay as we were with the first.

Summary: I booked the house as a location for some quiet time out in nature, to enjoy the surroundings, and to stargaze at night; I and my two friends were satisfied on all of those counts. Had fun birding and using our telescopes.

Summary: We visited this property last summer and absolutely had a blast... so much so that we booked it again this summer and stayed for 2 weeks this time. We just absolutely love the seclusion of the property and all that there is to explore around it. We like to look for different trails to go hiking on with our dogs who love running around the prairie. We love that the property is far enough away to be kind of living off the grid but close enough to the towns of Williams and Flagstaff for shopping, eating out, entertainment etc. The owners are terrific as they were in communication with us if we had any questions. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. Who knows maybe next year we'll book again and stay even longer...lol!

Summary: A short trip away from the heat of Phoenix, with perfect weather including a great afternoon storm. Enjoyed relaxing on the patio, going for a short hike around the nearby Scholtz Lake, and of course walks around the property watching the wildlife. A very special place, thank you for letting us stay.

Summary: House needs repair. Missing screens, patio door brook, bench broke on one side in kitchen. Yard needs clean up and mowed. Advertise that you could take walks but the land was not mowed nor was there paths. Would not let the kids walk it because of snakes. Neighbors dogs barked from dusk to dawn. The road into the farm is washed out and large rocks in it. If you do not have a truck or suv it would damage the vehicle. when contacted owners, it was the next morning before they replied. No airconditioning unit.

Summary: This was our second visit staying at this property. This most recent stay was 1 week long. The Garland Prairie is a piece of paradise. Every evening we'd sit outside and just enjoy the sound of the wind whistling through the grass, the birds chirping, and watching the wild rabbits scurry around the house. Roast smores and watch the sunsets! The house accommodated 4 adults and a teen girl very comfortably. Don't hesitate to book this property, especially if you want to be away from the crowded hotels and neighborhoods of Flag and Williams. The bonus is a scenic, direct connection to I-40. God Bless your next vacation!

Summary: This is a wonderful place to go and get some quiet, relaxation, and beautiful views. There are times at night when it seems so quiet it’s actually deafening. There are plenty of places to go hike nearby. The house is very clean and has basically everything you need. This is actually the third time I have stayed here and I enjoy it just as much each time

Summary: Very relaxing and peaceful environment! Central location to all things AZ! We enjoyed seeing the Grand Canyon north of us and Rt 66 east and west of us! We loved exploring AZ then returning back to our quiet prairie home. The host were very helpful and quick to respond to any questions. We will definitely visit again in the future!
