Positive: 1. The house was spacious and well appointed - sunny and pleasant 2. Beautiful gardens 3. Well equipped kitchen 4. Lovely friendly neighbours - one gave us a lettuce and spring onions from her garden
Negative: 1. The beds were very soft - I prefer a firmer bed, so was definitely ready to move on after three sleeps in such a soft bed. 2. There was a very strong smell of garlic in the house when we arrived and it lingered for days despite opening windows. 3. We had requested late check-out at time of booking and were advised they would let us know nearer our checkout time which is fair. However, while staying I followed up on that request and was given until midday (which unfortunately didn't work for us because we had plans already to be out at that time which is why I had asked for a later time in the first place). They did offer for us to book for another night, but we didn't need another night - just a late checkout till 3pm which I offered to pay $100 for. I got no response to my offer of $100 until a message around mid-day the day prior to checkout morning advising that they now had a booking coming in right after us, so the previously offered mid-day checkout was withdrawn and we were required to be out by 10am. The back and forth over late check out was unpleasant and disappointing seeing as we had requested at time of booking. I appreciate that the owners need to have time to do the cleaning, but some planning around this could have been arranged ahead of time if there was a will to do so. Anyway - will make sure in future to lock this in before confirming any bookings if we need late checkout.
