Positive: Our stay in this incredible one-bedroom home exceeded all expectations, offering an abundance of space and three wonderful balcony spots to take in the views. The gracious host/family went completely above and beyond by surprising us with fresh Portuguese tarts and warm bread one morning. This unexpected act of genuine kindness truly made our experience unforgettable.

Positive: Quinta da Galeira is a nice property in the hills just above Pinhao (about 7 minutes by car). The house is a “reconverted” family home that has 3 separate “apartments”. They all have a spacious balcony terrace which is where we had breakfast and dinner looking over the lovely Douro river and valley with a nice breeze even when it’s very hot. We sat and hung out – super peaceful. The beds were super comfortable, rooms clean, the owners provided towels and pool towels for us. The kitchen is also well appointed; the house includes everything you could need. The hosts, Carlos and his wife, were one of the best aspects of the stay – they were extremely hospitable (brought us bread, wonderful Pastéis de Belem that were to die for, sweet grapes from their orchard…). They made our stay even nicer. The only “but” has to do with getting in and out of the swimming pool (the steps were a bit difficult since it’s an above ground swimming pool). Next to the pool they have a games room with billiards, table games and table soccer (foosball) Would recommend it without a doubt!

Positive: The view is absolutely beautiful! Everything was lovely at Quinta da Galeira. The apartment was charming, spacious, comfortable, very clean with a well equipped kitchen. The garden and pool were great and my family loved the games room where we played table tennis. It was incredibly relaxing staying there, worth the hefty climb up the hill!! Pedro couldn’t have been kinder, thank you for everything.
