Welcome to Redbird Ridge, a year round R&R get-away in a private Amish-built log cabin on 10 secluded acres high up on a ridge in the heart of Wisconsin's apple capital, Gays Mills. A bird sanctuary to say the least with 60+ different species of birds spotted as we feed them year round. In the Winter we’ve had as many as 20 pairs of Cardinals at one time. Our westward facing front porch is perfect for rocking and relaxing with amazing sunset views. The silence up here can be almost deafening. With wildlife galore it truly is a slice of heaven. The cabin is cozy in all 4 seasons and can sleep up to 5. Numerous apple orchards and other seasonal attractions close by. Lots to see and do in the area or just grill & chill at the cabin. Great place to relax and unwind. Mowed hiking trails throughout the property, fire pit, large hammock, (perfect for star gazing) and a weber charcoal grill are provided. Hope to see you soon!

Summary: Beautiful, cute, and cozy have made a home in Redbird Lodge. Bob and Michelle are excellent communicators and are, frankly, just good people. The interactions between the numerous species of hummingbirds was the highlight of the property for me, but there are a variety of things that make this place special (many beautiful birds frequent the feeders, the care and love that went into the themes of decorations, gardens, mowed paths, the feeling of the property being a private space between the cabin-dwellers and wildlife, to name a few). Mornings began with coffee and the pleasant songs of birds. Nights ended with fires and, often enough, hot showers. What more could one want? If you’re on the fence, I will offer you a few pieces of information. The stairs to the three beds upstairs are fairly steep. No one had any issues in my group, but I feel like it’s worth noting. A bed pulls out from under the couch downstairs, allowing 2 to sleep down there pretty comfortably. There is plenty of hot water. The weather was not great the weekend we went, but there were many critters to watch during the day (and a storm from that porch, with that view, was a genuine treat). We were looking forward to being a little more active than we wound up being, but the change in pace definitely brought us closer. Everyone, unanimously, loved our stay at Redbird!

Summary: My husband and I were looking for a little cabin getaway weekend for our 17th anniversary. The reviews of Redbird Ridge did not guide us wrong. The property is so beautiful. In the afternoons we just sat in the yard watching the birds, sipping drinks and waiting for sunset. We even heard coyotes one night as we slept with the windows open. All of the amenities were well kept and all we did was bring some food and drinks to chill out all weekend.

Summary: A true log cabin, beautifully built, very clean and organized. The porch is a boon in hot and muggy weather. Great views. Spectacular close up bird watching. Best suited to couples or groups not needing privacy. Sleeps 5 up stairs in loft area and two with trundle bed. As a couple we ended up finding it more comfortable to sleep on separate floors to accommodate the weather. But, sleeping on the trundle, looking out the window to see the brilliant night sky was a memory to hold close. We very much enjoyed our stay, and being here over the 4th holiday had two evenings of fireworks in three directions. Quite a surprise. Add that to the lightening one night and we had an artist’s dream, and some inspired painting time. Enjoy the beauty of the location and you won’t regret your stay.

Summary: In one word - wow! Bob and Michelle's property is just so beautiful that we were left speechless. The view is spectacular and the atmosphere is so relaxing. You can forget any troubles or worries you might have - they will melt away. The cabin is very clean and cozy with lots of special touches. We spent 3 days and didn't even leave the property. Never saw so many beautiful birds. We enjoyed walking the trails and sitting out on the porch with our morning coffee and again at night as the sun went down. If you are contemplating whether you should book their place, do it! You won't regret it and the memories will last long after you leave. Highly recommend!

Summary: We loved our stay! We lost count of how many types of birds came to the feeders :) Visited by a turkey and a deer just before sunset. The sunsets and the Milky Way viewing was awesome. Very quiet!
