Limerick House | Refurbished Stone Farmhouse with Pool, set within 400 acres of Stunning Country

8 Bedroom House in Limerick

Escape the hustle and bustle of city life and immerse yourself in a true Australian rural experience. Great for families with children or a group of friends looking for a private, country retreat. This modernised 19th Century Farmhouse is the perfect place to relax, reconnect and enjoy a home away from home.
Hazeldean Homestead was built in 1851 and has been renovated and extended throughout the past 20 years. The private house and garden is set amongst 400 acres of stunning farmland which is currently being used as a Merino sheep farm. This large plot of land provides guests with a beautiful 1 hour & 45 minute walk around the properties boundary. Stroll along the creeks and through the paddocks, all whilst taking in the stunning views of the rolling hills of Limerick. Don’t forget to pack your fishing rod too for some trout fishing in the creek... We don’t have fishing rods available at the house so make sure to pack yours!
There are also some great spots for some Paddock gold so don't forget to pack your golf clubs! Ask Laura on arrival at the property where the best patch is for this.
The outdoor pool is the perfect spot to spend a lazy summer's afternoon. Alternatively take a dive off the jetty into the dam to cool off and re energize country style! The dam is also a great place for the kids to take out their kayaks or canoes and have a play ( kayaks and canoes are not available at the house, so you would need to provide your own to participate in this activity).
Amongst the veranda at the front of the house, there is a large gas BBQ and a spacious outdoor seating area, so you can enjoy your meals alfresco style. You will also find a wood fire pit (logs provided), which creates the perfect ambience and warmth on a cooler evening. So rug up by the fire and enjoy a glass of red whilst admiring the milky way and stars which are rather spectacular on a clear night.
We also have our resident chickens which you are welcome to pay a visit to and feed them any food scraps you have. Feel free to help yourself to any eggs they have laid too!
The house itself is made up of a large open plan living space, with 8 bedrooms (3 queens, 1 double, 2 singles, 1 twin and a family room with a double bed and 1 single), 2 bathrooms both with a bath and shower, a laundry room with a washer, dryer and downstairs toilet. The family room has its own ensuite bathroom and is situated in a separate building next to the main house.
The large kitchen/dining/ lounge area is an extension of the original stone farmhouse with high ceilings, wooden beams and a wood fire to create a cosy country atmosphere. The fire is new and heats up the main part of the house beautifully in the winter. Being a second home to the Sydney owners, the home boasts a good range of amenities including all kitchenware, utensils and cooking basics, TV, DVD player, large selection of DVDs, wifi and electric blankets on all the beds to ensure a cosy night sleep in the winter months. Should you come in summer, fans are provided in all bedrooms and living space, but being a stone house, it stays reasonably cool even on the hottest of days. The entire house also has stunning 360 views of the properties surrounds which are especially impressive from the windows and large French doors in the main living space.
The house is just a 3 hour drive from Sydney's CBD and is located 34 km away from the nearest shops and cafes within the small country town of Crookwell. The house is very private and in a secluded location with very few cars coming past on the nearest road, so peace and quiet and privacy are guaranteed during your stay. However should you want to go and enjoy a nice draft beer with a good pub feed, the Laggan Pub is just a 15 minute drive away. Alternatively the Laggan Pantry offers a more fine dining experience as well as having an onsite brewery where you can try the house beer.
Limerick is located 1000 metres high so you can enjoy all 4 seasons at our beautiful property. Equipped for all seasons, Hazeldean has so much to offer all year round.
We can’t wait to welcome you into our beautiful home away from home and we hope you treasure your country experience as much as we do.
Please note that an additional fee of $50 per person per night will incur for parties larger than 10 people.

Summary: I was hesitant to book as the photos weren't too appealing, but oh my gosh the property was beautiful I definitely think the owners need to get some good quality shots to creat more business. the place was incredible, huge house, so much bedding, the kitchen view amazing, so many outdoor areas to hang in, so isolated, and beautiful landscapes in the daytime and as dusk, would definetly come back here!

Summary: Had the most wonderful stay over the new year. The house is lovely, very large, and with beautiful views of the surrounding fields. We managed to get lucky with some sunny days (despite the rain forecast) so we got to enjoy the pool, which was always the perfect temperature (there are a lot of little bugs that like to land in the pool, but not a a huge issue). There are chickens on the property, which were very cute and provided some eggs for us. The nights were a bit chilly, which was perfect for using the outdoor fire pit. Inside was always nice and cosy though. Would also recommend walking to the hill on the other side of the road to catch either sunrise or sunset. Laura, the property manager, was great to deal with. Very sweet and very quick to respond to any questions I had. Highly recommend booking.

Summary: We had a fabulous timing at Hazelton. It’s in the country so we were prepared with enough supplies for our stay. The photos don’t do the beautiful property justice. The walk up the hill in the evening was lovely and the kids loved the pool. Would highly recommend as a great retreat to spend time with friends and family. Laura is a fabulous host.

Summary: Lovely October long weekend at this working farmhouse! We have 3 families with 6 adults and 6 children ages 1 to 6. This property is amazing! All rooms are clean and all amenities are available. The kitchen is well equipped and having the BBQ was fantastic. There's also a long dining table outdoors which we loved having breakfast at. This is a working farmhouse and so plenty for the kids to enjoy - chicken barn (we had a few fresh eggs there which the kids helped pick), sheep paddock...etc. There's a small yard next to the house where the kids played a bit of soccer too! The pool was a little cold when we were there but the kids still enjoyed sitting by the pool kicking water. The owners were really good at organising the stay and kept us informed all along. The property manager met us on site when we arrived to show us around which was really useful as this was our first farmhouse stay. Highly recommend!
