Positive: Great Lake view. Very good breakfast. Vert hospiatble Hosts. Were happy to provide transport to various places nearby.
Negative: Loungers were not very comfortable. No proper towels by the lake.

Positive: This is a well hidden pearl of a family hotel. 5 minutes driving from Stresa - make sure to follow navigational hints from proprietors, the access path is a little... entertaining :-). Beautiful hillside grounds with massive sequoia trees [to my immense surprise, that's how Gemini identified them] growing next to the outdoor dining area - shaded, and with direct lake view. "Old country" furnishings in perfect - no, shining! - condition. Do not miss breakfast for anything!

Positive: The owners were very helpful, spook good English and made us feel welcome. The bus and train station are a short walk away but the owners will drive you when requested. Buses stop at 19:30 hours and taxis are rare. Arriving back in Stresa after a train trip we had to take a taxi back, however, the owner said we should have rung and they would have sent someone out to collect us - Now that is service. The hotel consists of a main building and a second annexe both with views of the lake and the garden area. We had the top floor room, normally a family room, which you entered straight from the lift. It was split into three areas, the first had a single bed and a balcony with a large table for sitting around. The middle section had two single beds whilst the main bedroom area had a king-size bed and a balcony. The bathroom was large with big jacuzzi and shower. The breakfast met our requirements especially the four types of honey, one being a local honey comb. Though based on the continently style you could also have porridge, waffles, pancakes and various eggs served in the main house or terrace. Evening meals were pizzas, or various salads served in large locally made bowls and of course a sweet selection. Make sure you have the apple tart, a family recipe, with ice cream. There is a large selection of wines to go with your meal, and we had the recommend local red wine which was excellent. Access to the buildings are via stairs, these are not easy if you have any problems walking. However, if you stay in the main building you can gain access to the hotel through the private quarters, you will need to arrange that, and then ride down in the lift to reception, useful when carrying cases to and from the car. Th bottom level has secure parking with access to charger stations, which you need to reserve, and a gym area. There is a small raised pool which is suitable for children as a parent could reach over and easily lift a child out.
Negative: There was nothing we did not really like as we had wanted a small bijou style hotel which we could use as a base to see the area and that is exactly what we had. The hotel is a short drive from the main town of Stresa with its large hotels, restaurants and promenade walks and it would have been nice if it had been in walking distance, but we knew that before we booked. If you are careful and look around you should be able to find a space to park your car in one of the car parks, or in a white parking area for free. Just remember this is not the type of hotel were you relax by the pool and do nothing every day, though if you are a family there is plenty of shade and a large play area for children to run around when you need a rest. The hotel's Web site gives a very fair and honest picture of the hotel and what to expect.

Positive: The absolutely stunning view to the Maggiore lake from our room. The great park in the property. The excellent hosts providing high level service. The breakfast is very tasty and rich. Close proximity to the local center with the main infrastructure and very interesting trips. Very relaxing atmosphere.
