Quinta Serrano, with its beautiful garden, well-appointed house and peaceful location is the perfect accommodation for anyone wanting to explore central Portugal. The house is situated in a largely uninhabited valley with few neighbours and sweeping views of mountains and forests, whilst at the same time being conveniently located just five minutes drive away from Tabua where visitors will have easy access to shops, cafes and restaurants.
Hikers and cyclists will find many trails right outside their door leading to river beaches, schist villages and panoramic vistas. Nature lovers will be thrilled by hooting owls, nightjars and a plethora of butterflies. Nestled between the Mondego and Alva rivers, this stunning apartment with granite walls, and cathedral ceiling is located in a peaceful and idyllic setting overlooking the Caramulo Mountains. Coimbra, Viseu & the Serra Estrela mountains are all less than an hour's drive away.
The kitchen, dining and living area is open-plan and features modern appliances, a dining room table that seats six, an antique writing desk, cathedral ceilings with exposed wooden beams, granite walls, highly polished wood floors, and a wood salamander. No less than eight sets of windows offer panoramic views of the surrounding hills and the garden. The bathroom and the Caramulo bedroom are located just off the living area, but the Garden View bedroom is down a short hall, offering a bit more privacy and easy access to the garden and pool area. Guests can make use of an additional eating area outside which is shaded by a plum tree. Parking is available on the property for up to two cars.

Summary: Searched for and found online, Andrew and Laura the quinta owners’ were most helpful and very friendly without being intrusive. They were always willing to assist and advice throughout our two week stay. We went on the 28th August to visit our land near Tabua, bought many years ago. We flew in to Porto early evening and picked up a little Smart rental car at the airport. We stayed overnight in Porto and spent the following day exploring this delightful city. We hope to go back with more time in the future. We drove the the two and a half hours to the quinta, having received useful and detailed directions from Andrew and Laura in advance. Having spent longer in beautiful Porto than intended we arrived at the quinta mid evening as it was getting dark, to be greeted by Laura and Andrew. We were given a tour with an explanation of the facilities. Although we had seen the excellent photographs provided on the website entering the house was a revelation. The house was a fantastic country home, a big vase of freshly cut flowers on the large dining room table to greet us. The open plan living area was spacious and elegant with an excellent kitchen, which we made good use of! It felt like home. The two bedrooms were both quiet and comfortable. There was a nice bathroom, with both bath and an excellent shower in the bath. We woke the next morning and were able to take in the view …. awesome! The lovely granite quinta surrounded by fields and trees. A little terrace by the front door with two chairs from which to view the beautiful garden next to the house, cup of coffee in hand. We felt we had reached paradise. Everything in the house worked like clockwork, Laura and Andrew were nearby and available to answer any questions. Nearby Tabua is a quiet little town but with good facilities, even an organic shop and a restaurant next door with vegan options on the menu. There are many nice places to visit and walks to be taken. We really enjoyed our time in Portugal and will certainly be going back. We strongly recommend this house and the delightful hosts.

Summary: It is a very beatiful place, the garden is a little paradise thank`s to the work of Andrew and Laura. Also my friend and me could help them with their goats and we were squeezing apple juice. And we will thank you and hope that we will come back in the next summer. Summary: I don't know where to begin. The property is impeccably kept, any reasonable accoutrement you could think of that you would need is provided. Spacious, well appointed, with friendly and polite owners who give you all the space you desire, yet are available to assist you. The outside of the property is as stellar as the inside, and the peaceful garden area is a wonderful respite from a busy world. My fiance also enjoyed the pool. Clean linens, spotless living areas, and all appliances in excellent working order and modern. Shops and restaurants are near the village of Tabua, and less than an hour to Viseu or Coimbra for a city vibe. The people of Tabua are very friendly, as well. I have stayed in many VRBO in many countries, and this is, bar none, the finest place I've stayed. You won't be disappointed. L & J
