Spacious, yet quaint, 1846, restored historic home. Highlighting original plank flooring, exposed brick walls, working fireplace, fenced yard. This is a property that will take you back in time. Please notice that we have done a restoration to this house, not a modernization. Everything done to the house had the intention of maintaining as much of the original integrity as possible. Please read the description carefully to realize what limitations this type of restoration does have. At your arrival, i try to stock with the basics for the kitchen and comfort paper products to accommodate ypur arrival. please prepare that I do not provide toiletries or restock during your stay. The house itself was originally owned by Dr. Archibald Campbell whose family founded the Christian Church and Bethany College. The quaint town of West Middletown offers a restaurant and antique store within walking distance. Summary: Enjoyed our stay, especially admiring all the old restored fixtures, ceiling, fireplaces, etc. Was happy to find Marsha’s on Main so close by for tasty food and a walkable area for our dog. Thanks

Summary: Great location for what we needed. Access to Pittsburgh, places south of the city and Meadowcroft. Loved the fact that the three large bedrooms were on different levels, one on the main, one upstairs and one in the basement. This has one bath BUT in the basement bedroom is a sink and shower so there are other areas for cleaning up! The house is OLD, floors are not level, staircases narrow and no dishwasher. We knew this and none of it bothered us. We did have an 18 month old who was fine there, she can navigate stairs. Outside has a nice sitting area with fire pit. The park is about 1/3 mile down the hill very easy to get to and very kid friendly. (It is up hill on the way back 😁). Only real negative would be how busy the street is and how close you are to it. The street noise did not bother any of us but light sleepers be aware. Yard is completely fenced. Kitchen on the Main is right across the street and is an amazing little restaurant! Charity is incredibly easy to work with and quick to respond.

Summary: My friend and daughter and I had a lovely girls' weekend. The house was charming and suited our needs. LOVED having the fenced yard for our dog! We stopped at MC Kitchen, Poor Johnny's, and the alpaca farm and walked down to the lake. Would recommend for a nice country getaway.

Summary: Why a unicorn? People who like to vacation with their dog will know. This listing is dog friendly, no size limit (my labrador is thankful for this) AND is fully fenced. It can be hard to find 2 of those 3, but all 3? If you have nice weather, the back patio is a great place to hang out. I love all of the historic charm. You must be comfortabe with and able to climb stairs. It is a 3 story residence. Owner responsed quickly to all of my questions, even one I had before I rented.

Summary: Although we didn.t stay for the lake, there is one within a couple miles that looked very inviting. The house itself has a long history, showing an addition, 1800.s brick internal walls, unlevel wooden floors, unique fireplaces, clawed tub, and more. If you don.t mind cobwebs, dust, dirty rugs, and unclean sinks and showers, the place is grand. The a.c. units had not been put in windows so we had to open the windows, many were without screens so we couldn.t keep them open. Very little air circulated so we stayed hot when we slept. Traffic was loud due to the windows being open and the house on a busy main road.
