La Maison des Barriques and La Petite Maison have been created from an old winery. The property has been transformed and lovingly renovated to a high standard, giving fabulous contemporary interiors. Being an Interior Designer every detail has been considered, mixing old with new, to provide warm, spacious and light interiors. Entrance to La Maison des Barriques is via a winding stone staircase onto the terrace which looks out over the village to the vineyards beyond. Paguignan, which nestles in the foothills of the Montagne Noire and just 30km from the Mediterranean, is a quiet hamlet with winding alleyways, an ancient chapel, a small tree lined square and evidence of more prosperous times. Within two minutes walk from the front door you are among the vineyards.This is a land of vineyards, wine and good food, perfumed garrigue, Cathar castles, abbeys, walks, rivers for fishing and swimming and colourful markets with fresh local produce.

Summary: Great location in a beautiful, tranquil village. The property caretakers could not have been more welcoming and helpful. The house is very comfortable and well appointed. Lots of spectacular hikes in the area and close to lots of different things to see and do. You definitely need a car because there are no services in the village itself but that is what makes it so tranquil!

Summary: We were two couples staying at La Petite Maison to attend a wedding at Agel nearby. Two bedrooms, each with toilet and shower was great to have our own spaces. The kitchen was well equipped and the living area on the top floor was a great second shared space. Patio for sun and outside dining. The beds were comfortable and the showers had great pressure. Parking was free in the local square. The hamlet the property is in is very cute but all residential - you need a car to explore the area easily. The local bakery van comes twice a week which is awesome for getting fresh and delicious bread and pastry. Jane was a great host - clear instructions for arrival and on hand for the occasional question. Loved our stay and would return.

Summary: We were so pleased with our stay at Le Petit Maison. It’s a well furnished and beautifully decorated home in the stunning, peaceful hamlet in the foothills. If you’re looking for relaxation this is the place! Not too far from things to do either, including Canal de Midi, Minerve and the coast and Carcassonne a little further afield. A shop is in the next village as well as a boulangerie that calls to the village a few times a week. Great welcome from the hosts too. Lovely walking/running routes through the local forest and vineyards. We’d love to return!

Summary: Its hard to do justice to the way we felt about this place in just a few words. We returned from La Petit Maison with heavy hearts as we had the most perfect week. The house itself has such a warm and welcoming feel to it and was everything we hoped for. Beautifully put together with thought and comfort and lots of little extra which made living there for a week so happy. Jane was so welcoming and her house is spotlessly clean, in a wonderful location and theres just much to do and see in the area. We'll definitely be returning.
