The Space:
Our home has a small entryway area, after coming up three small stairs from outdoors, with plenty of hooks to hang coats and store footwear, along with a full size dining room.
Our living area has plenty of places to sit along with a writing desk, and is right off the full, stocked kitchen ready for you to make fantastic meals with all your family and friends. The full bathroom and laundry machines are located on the first floor level.
The couch opposite the fireplace has a full mattress that can be folded out into the living area, with sheets and other linens on the shelves down the hall from the TV.
Upstairs on the loft area is a king sized bed for you to enjoy, along with a large walk in closet, full size mirror, writing desk, and rocking chair to enjoy. A crib can be assembled if needed!
A fan is supplied to help deal with the summer heat, along with a separate AC unit located on the upstairs level window. Gas fireplace available for use during the colder months.
The backyard space has concrete steps down to the water, along with many areas to sit and enjoy the view, with the option to sit or lay down in the shade of the large trees, or on the generously sized deck. Gas grill is available for use in the backyard. The yard is fully fenced, but please note that out towards the water is a rocky outcrop, plus the fence out in front is about three feet high.
For any long term stays please reach out if you would like anything adjusted, we are in the area a lot and can set up the place differently if that is preferred!
Guest Access:
You and your friends and family will have full access to our home, backyard and front yard. Please be mindful of our neighbors! They are all very friendly, but prefer having their personal space respected.
A unique code to our front door will be provided to you right before your stay, which is reset after every guest.
The Neighborhood:
Welcoming and loving neighborhood. A mile from downtown Kankakee, and two miles to Olivet Nazarene. Lots of great places to hang out and eat nearby, our favorites include Stefari Cafe for coffee and tea, Rigo's Place for the best seafood dinner, and Jaenicke's Root Beer Stand for a quick bite. Grapes and Hops is a wonderful wine bar with more than just wine. If you would like any questions of any sort please feel free to send us a message!

Getting Around:
Parking wherever you go is very approachable, and we also have our local bus transit system, the River Valley Metro, plus a greyhound and Amtrak station within walking distance. All of downtown Kankakee about a mile, plus some great bike paths nearby.
We are also a one home away from a riverside park with benches to sit at, a full sized park for kids, basketball hoops, and plenty of room to play with your furry friend(s)!

Summary: The place is very cozy, the river view from the backyard is beautiful, and it's within 15 minutes of a bunch of nice trails and fishing spots. Host was responsive when we had a couple questions.We would definitely stay again.

Summary: We stayed at this property for a couple of days and everything went very smoothly. Rob was responsive and helpful and we had everything we needed. We both work remotely and the WiFi was great for both of us; not a glitch. The bed was comfy and the kitchen was easy to cook in. The location is quite lovely - near to two parks and right on the river. We had a nice peaceful stay, thank you.

Summary: The property was lovely and comfortable, with everything we needed for a relaxing girls weekend. The area was quiet and we enjoyed the Saturday farmers market in town. I would definitely recommend this for anyone looking to get away for a while to relax.

Summary: The property was very nice. The view was beautiful of the river and there were stairs leading to the water. Inside was rustic but very neat and clean. Property was easy to get to and the property manager was easy to get a hold of and open to suggestions. There was a really great place near by called Paul’s Place that had super service and delicious breakfast and dinners (we didn’t eat lunch there). I highly recommend.

Summary: We loved our stay! The property was conveniently located, felt very private, and had a great view of the river with large windows and a lot of light. We also loved all the antique and vintage furniture and collectibles. There was a bit of road/wind noise, and a few uneven spots in the floors. We might also bring some more of our own kitchen equipment and groceries next time too, but wouldn’t stop us from staying again.

Summary: Antique themed property, close to many ammenaties. Host was in touch on a daily basis to ensure our needs were met. Rob was very accepting of a few tips of items that were missing and he fully acknowledged them (all were quick fixes) Quiet area and was very restfull. Very clean and comfortable. Really nice to have washer and dryer available, but no dishwasher. Overall, great stay and would book this property again.

Summary: This was a lovely house for a weekend getaway. There is a Jewel grocery nearby, a cute microbrewery on the corner, and downtown Kankakee is a ten minute walk. The Kankankee River was beautiful and clean full of native mollusks, turtles, and heron! We intended to canoe the river but it was a bit too shallow during this time of year. Kankakee State Park is a great place for birdwatching and fly fishing! Thank you Robert for a wonderful stay!
