Positive: This is a student accommodation during the academic year, and a hostel in the summer. My room was quite large, with a small minimal kitchen in the corner. There was also a larger communal kitchen across the hall, with an oven and some utensils. There are a couple of supermarkets within a 10-min walk, which is very convenient. The area itself is a bit out of the city center and was quiet when I was there. Finally, the free parking was really nice -- and busy!

Negative: The place is very, very run down. It wasn't built to the highest standard to start with (no soundproofind between adjacent bathrooms for example, so you hear your neighbor's activities), but by now it's in dire need of maintenance. It's also in dire need of a deep clean (the desk chair in my room in particular). While there I learned that the university, who owned and ran the place, has sold the property to a real estate developer. That developer will run it the same way for maybe one more year before tearing it down. So there hasn't been any incentive to invest in it in years, and it shows.

Positive: Location by the beach, close to stores and downtown. Free bbq and laundry. Properly cleaned and well run.

Negative: Its not the ritz carlton, but perfectly comfortable
