Positive: This is a beautifully restored grade 11 listed property that is centrally situated and in easy walking distance to cafes and local sites. The downstairs living and kitchen are well proportioned and the bathroom is lovely with a bath and walk in show and outside of it is a good dressing space. While there is no dishwasher, there is a washing machine which is always good for travelers and longer stays.
Negative: The noise of traffic did not enable us to relax in the space or to open curtains and window, so we spent most of our time out and about. The property is on the intersection of a ring road for the town - so there is constant noisy traffic going by all day and most of the night. Investment in double glazing would help address this issue and improve the comfort of the living space and bedrooms that are all on the road side of the building. As with many historic properties the stairs are very steep so we didn't bother dragging our larger suitcases up them. The only bathroom and toilet is on the second floor. The main king size bed is in the attic space (up a second set of steep stairs). This room has a number of low beams and low angled walls, that are common for these spaces but challenging - my partner was not able to sleep in this space. The second floor opposite the only bathroom/ toilet has a double bed and a bunk bed with good head room for adults. It would be better to have the main king bed on this level (or a queen) and the double or singles in the lower space upstairs for those smaller people in the family. Free parking was the other challenge but there is pay parking not too far away.
