This tastefully restored and comfortable cottage is set in a very peaceful rural area not far from the historic town of Cluny and the religious village of Taize. A small village a mile away provides most basic needs.
The cottage enjoys panoramic views over the valley and is very private.
The cottage has been fitted out in a separate house away from the main house, and comfortably accommodates four adults. It has a large private garden in front with several seating areas, there is a sunny terrace along the front of the cottage and shady spots for those hot days of summer. Comfortable garden furniture is provided Guests have furthur use of all the mature gardens ( 20.000 m2 )on the property.
The cottage ( 85 m2) has a roomy living room with a comfortable sofa , WIFI , TV . The living room is also equipped with a wood- burning stove for chilly evenings. The separate dining room adjacent to the living room has French doors leading to the terrace.
The kitchen is equipped with a dish washer, fridge, oven, toaster and a coffee machine.
There are two bedrooms with new comfortable double beds . Each bedroom has its own ensuite bathroom with shower, washbasin and toilet. If you make reservations for 2 people you have 1 bedroom, if you want 2 bedrooms please make reservations for 3 people.
The cottage is ideal for winter breaks as well as it has been well-insulated and can be heated efficiently. Outside on the terrace in the shelter of the cottage you’ll be able to enjoy the first warm rays of the sun, relax, have a meal.
There are towels in the bathrooms and kitchen and the beds are made .
The cottage is the only guest house on our property .

Summary: The house surpassed expectations. Beautifully renovated to a high and thoughtful standard. So many original outbuildings. The garden is peaceful and there is a stunning silk tree which gives welcome shade. Andre and Jacqueline are very helpful and respectful. The village is a short drive away where there is a boulangerie, shop, Auberge, tabac and very welcome car mechanics who got us home safely! Supermarket (Netto) near Cluny is very well stocked. Cluny is highly recommended, as well as surrounding villages. Andre and Jacqueline have prepared a very useful guide to local areas. The nearby chateaux are a must. My favourite was Berzé, a medieval building. Beautiful arable countryside all around. So very peaceful.

Summary: We booked this house (for the 2nd time) to have a break on our return trip. Really welcoming people. They thoughtfully arranged a wine tour and tasting at really short notice; we had a brilliant time and came away armed with very good bottles! Highly recommended.

Summary: Enjoyed greatly our stay, the house is perfect leaving nothing to desire. Spotlessly clean, comfortable rooms with a beautiful garden, quiet. All amenities are there, absolutely wonderful. It's a great base for exploring this region of Burgundy. Will be returning. Rolf

Summary: A super place; great house, amazing surroundings, good locality for visiting places and also for amenities. We had a relaxing time in this well equipped gite. The bedrooms and bathrooms are great; the cotton bedding was so nice and the quilts light but warm goose down and feather. We prefer a harder mattress but that is just personal choice, the beds were comfy. It would have been better if we had a full size oven but I still managed to cook a full meal every evening for four people, I just had to think carefully about the menu as we only had a small convection oven the size of a microwave. Having a separate dining room was a bonus and we had very civilised and enjoyable evenings, eating tasty food and drinking amazing wine! The peace at night was incredible, the wildlife outside entertaining too! We walked miles, visited local villages, a chateau, a market and abbey, and also went wine tasting and buying. Jacqueline even did some washing for us, for a small cost, as the previous house had offered a machine but it was broken, leaving us in need of some clean clothes! You do have to pay for gas and electric here, it didn't cost much but we hadn't picked this up from the website. All in all we had a super holiday!

Summary: We had a wonderful holiday. The house is beautifully restored and very comfortable - the garden is delightful and full of character with an old pigeonnier and lovely places to sit. Andre and Jacqueline made us feel very welcome. We loved visiting Autun cathedral, many small local churches, Cluny market and hiring bikes to go along the converted old railway line, La Voie Verte. Highly recommended!

Summary: We can honestly say that this is one of the most beautiful holiday homes we have ever rented in France. The condition of the house shows an extremely high and maintained quality and the entire atmosphere in the house, as well as in the beautiful garden let us spend a very nice holiday. Summary: We were two people and stayed in La Maréchaude: it is a wonderful place to stay whether you just want to sit around in peace and quiet, go for endless interesting walks from the domaine or explore all the nearby towns or villages. André and Jacqueline were charming and helpful hosts, and the facilities for self-catering were very good. The cottage has been exquisitely furnished with flair and quality which is of the highest standard and comfort. Summary: It is almost certainly impossible to find a more wonderful, delightful spot than this lovely gite. Everything exceeded expectation, especially the hospitality of Andre and Jacqueline. The touches in the home were exquisite, the rooms were restful, the views superb. Truly a gem, and one that will not stay hidden for long as more and more people discover it. I am already looking forward to a return visit!
