Positive: The mix of new and old hospice architecture is stunning. The old stone has been kept, the floor, the 8m ceilings , the archs, even in the swimming pool.
Negative: Not much. The restaurant was a little bit dark but the food was delicate and tasty.
Summary: A beautiful relaxing treat for a couple liking culture , architecture and well being

Positive: The overall hotel appearance is great with the front bar area a good place to sit and have a drink. The swimming pool area in the spa is spectacular. Staff also very good and welcoming.
Negative: The major disappointment was the food in the restaurant. My carpaccio starter was drowned in a rich pesto sauce (!) which meant that was all you could taste - disgusting. My tuna tataki main meal was drowned in soya sauce which made it inedible and it was returned. My wife’s meal of chicken and pasta was cold and again, this was returned to the kitchen. On the table next to us, the person also seemed to leave most of her salad! In simple terms, dinner in the restaurant was a disaster.
Summary: Hotel and staff great but restaurant was a disaster. Eat somewhere else.

Negative: Air con , not particularly efficient. Breakfast servery was crammed into a small area that at busy times meant you could not enter the area. Not a particularly good range of foods. First night we used the pool and then could not shower as our room had no hot water. Went down to dinner and waited nearly an hour for our food, which was luke warm when it arrived. Then went back to the room to find that the lights in the bedroom kept fusing out and they couldn't be repaired until the next day. A very expensive , mediocre experience and very disappointing for a birthday "treat".
