It is an old rehabilitated embankment of 75m2, with solar panels for lighting and a refrigerator, water collected from the rain and heating through radiators and wood stove / boiler. You will be surprised by its effectiveness. It has 1 hectare of land, in a wonderful natural environment, surrounded by fields, rivers, swamps and mountains.
Located at the foot of the Pyrenees in the Valley of the Fueva, 3 km from Tierrantona, a village with all services (swimming pool, restaurant, bakery, food) and 16 km from Ainsa-Sobrarbe, a medieval city declared a historical and artistic complex.

Summary: Yvonne and I were very pleased with our stay at La Borda de Formigales. We are grateful for the quick response of the owners. The house itself is perfect. Tastefully decorated and fully equipped. The only negative were the flies. You have to get used to them when sitting outside. Probably due to the time of the year. Thanks a lot for our pleasant stay. Summary: If you are looking for a place completely away from it, with some quirky features and decorative items, this is a great choice for a couple or family with young children. It is a great introduction to off-grid, sustainable living as well. We enjoyed a totally peaceful few days with walks in the valley. There is a river (sometimes dry) a few minutes walk away which is a lovely place for a picnic. The cooking facilities comprise just two gas burners, no oven, and it's recommended to bring bottled water to drink (there is a tap in Tierrontona where you can refill). The restaurant in Tierrontona offered a good meal and there is a small shop there too. The Valle de Fueva has a lot of agriculture, including pig and cattle farms, but none within sight (or smell) of the property. A few tractors pass on the very quiet road below. Highly recommended if you need to disconnect. For us, the lack of wifi and television was a definite bonus!

Summary: Spent the weekend with 3 close friends and a dog. The house is super cozy and homey, it was very clean and had everything that we needed. It was great to be able to disconnect and enjoy the days surrounded by nature knowing that we were staying in an eco-friendly house with solar energy and water gathered from the rain. It even had eco-friendly cleaning products (shower gel, shampoo, dish washing soap...)! Angela and Rory were very kind and helped with everything that we asked for, even gave us great recommendations of outdoor activities around the area. Thanx for the experience, will repeat for sure!

Summary: We had a lovely holiday in a part of the Spanish Pyrenees we had never visited before. We found this great cottage and it was located in remote valley, which was the perfect base to explore the area. The cottage is off-grid so that was nice and made the trip a lot more special.
