Negative: I stayed at the lovely Rustic Retreat with my two 15 - year - olds and our tour guide. The house has three spacious bedrooms, enough for six people, and features a continuous hot water supply, a well - equipped kitchen, and laundry and drying machines. It made our four - night stay feel truly homely. Our host, Sharon, a friendly New Zealander, recommended four local restaurants. We couldn’t get a table at Our Place due to the crowd, but the other three — The Nicks Pizzeria, The Carrington Hotel, and The Big Pub — were all delicious. When my boys accidentally dirtied Sharon’s beautiful dining table, she didn’t blame us. Instead, she comforted us. In short, Rustic Retreat was the perfect choice for our rainforest adventure, and I highly recommend it to any traveler in the area.

Positive: Lovely house and great outdoor area with everything we needed supplied. Family of five, so the washing machine and dryer were great to have :) Would definately recommend.

Positive: The place was as advertised - a rustic retreat. Close to Malanda, but in a rural location. The host was lovely, and the house had everything we needed.

Negative: The bed was a little hard for me, but our friend loved it as he loves a firmer bed. Everything else was great and this comment is only about personal preference - not anything wrong.

Positive: A lovely stay! Rustic Retreat was so peaceful. The accommodation was very clean and had all amenities for a family. The neighbouring animals and resident calves were the highlight for our teen-aged girls. The host was friendly and accommodating.
