Summary: Lovely property. Can't really swim in the river from here, but it's beautiful to look at. My parents saw some deer crossing the river! Good location for bird watching and star gazing. The massage chair was very nice. We came during a heat wave, luckily the AC works well. For swimming, we drove about 30 mins to whiskeytown lake. Some construction nearby during our stay but it wasn't bothersome.

Summary: We utilized this home as our base stay for 4 days of hikes in Lassen. It was a great place to relax and unwind after hiking and it is super beautiful too. It is about an hour to the park, but the drives weren’t bad each day. The property is right on the Sacramento River and it was lovely to sit out and watch the river flow each day and to star gaze at night. As you drive up, there is some storage containers and farm equipment that are kind of ugly, but beyond that is the house and it is cute and well decorated with lovely spots to sit outdoors. We used the hot tub and massage chair to help with sore hiking muscles. Great stay!

Summary: The location: This place is wonderfully secluded on a ranch. The river is in the backyard, and it's beautiful and soothing. The outdoor setup is great, lots of different spaces, lots of seating, very comfortable. The pictures do not do it justice. It was way better than we ever expected. The house: If the outside weren't so beautiful, you could be happy spending all day and night inside. It's comfortable, spacious, and has lots of amenities. The steam shower in the master, the massage chair, and the waffle maker were our favorites. There's a pool table, a hot tub, and fluffy towels too. Plus, the kitchen has everything you would need, including basics like oil and seasonings. It was spotless for our arrival. The host: Richard is so nice and welcoming, and we could tell he takes great pride in his property. He checked in on us to make sure everything was to our liking. He treated us like we were family, and my dog liked him too!

Summary: Our family had a great time staying at the Gover house. It's very secluded, a mile or so down a well graded dirt road, and less than 100 ' from the Sacramento River. There is river access but the river moves pretty swiftly at this location. As you look up the Sacramento you can see Mount Shasta on a clear day. We were visiting the area with several of our adult children. We made some great meals in the open kitchen, had fun playing pool, picked blackberries, and hung out on the porch and around the fire pit, watching the Sacramento River flow by. The bathrooms had no locks but no problem since we didn't have little ones opening doors without knocking. Richard Gover was the best. He was easy to communicate with, responded quickly, and was committed to making every thing just right.
