Summary: Group of old guys fishing for a week. Very secluded location and if you bring a boat Yankee Point Marina is just a few minutes by water away. Plenty of room for 6 guys. Kitchen is better stocked with pots and every imaginable gadget than most people's home kitchens.

Summary: My family and I loved this place. We barely left the property. Pretty secluded. Could not swim due to jelly fish but we fished, canoed and kayak. Honestly just enjoyed spending time together as a family. We did go to Tangier Island (do not recommend) but the boat ride was amazing. We saw dolphins. Thank you for opening up your home to our family including our 2 dogs

Summary: This was our annual family vacation- myself, my husband, my two college-aged daughters, and our 10-month-old Corgi puppy. The house has all high-end amenities- everything we could possibly have wanted. We kayaked, paddle-boarded, and canoed every day because it was so effortless having the river as our backyard with the dock right there. We woke up at 0330 one night and watched the Perseid Meteor Showers with no lights to diminish it. Penelope responded incredibly quickly to the few questions we had and their welcome letter doubled as a very thorough tour guide to local restaurants and attractions. We highly recommend 'The Office Bistro' in Irvington for dinner, and 'Country Cottage' in Whitestone for ice cream!

Summary: I grew up in Richmond, VA and spent many of my summers around the Chesapeake Bay boating, fishing, crabbing and camping. I live in Kentucky now and have three young boys (ages 11, 9, and 4). For years I have been wanting to take them and our older yellow lab to the bay area so they can enjoy the same experiences I did. This is the PERFECT location for some down time and to get away from technology and the screens. My parents and older brother and his wife also came from Richmond to spend some relaxing time with us. Everyone kept talking about how wonderful the place was. The location is quiet but close enough to go to Kilmarnock. The ferry helps make the trip shorter. We are eagerly looking forward to our next trip!

Summary: Fantastic water views from the well taken care of dock, and from the large windows in the great room and the master bedroom. Especially enjoyed watching the Great Blue Herons and the Bald Eagles. Very private, and quiet. We had no worries that our dogs would bother any neighbors( or that neighbors would bother us!) The house is beautiful. It has a well equipped kitchen, rooms supplied with plenty of towels and linens. Property includes kayaks, stand up paddle boards, and a canoe. We had a wonderful time paddling right from the property past the Yankee Point Marina. There were four adults, and our seven year old granddaughter. It was delightful to watch her and her Grampy baiting strings with chicken and catching blue crabs all week long. She released bucket fulls of them back into the water, and started all over again! She paddled her kayak with us everyday. Family games in the closet, granddaughter discovered “Charades” and became quite good at it! All agreed, it was the best family vacation ever!

Summary: We always enjoy staying here tremendously. The house, property and cove are beautiful. The owner is wonderful to work with and the house has all the amenities you could want. Although the house has Wi-Fi and all the TVs you could want, we always just unplug and enjoy boating, swimming, skiing, kayaking, fishing and crabbing. I don’t think we’ve ever turned on a tv in three times of staying here. It’s an amazing place to be together with family, relax, and enjoy nature!

Summary: We had a lovely week here. The setting is serene, surrounded by tons of nature. There are kayaks, paddle boards and a canoe available to explore the water, plus a great dock to sit on and soak it all in. Close enough to Lancaster, Kilmarnock, Irvington and White Stone for provisions and eating out. We plan to return!

Summary: This lovely home is quite secluded on a tree filled property that is surrounded on three sides by the river. We really enjoyed the canoe, kayaks and paddle boards on the warm water. We ventured out each day for lunch. Our favorite places (in order) are: Merrior, Fish Hawk Oyster Bar at the Tides Inn (a bit pricey but beautiful), Captain's Lounge at Yankee Point Marina, Zoll Vineyard and The Corner. We were slightly off season so some places were closed that we intended to visit. The Merry Point Ferry is awesome and highly recommended! It will cut about 15 minutes off your drive towards Kilmarnock. All shopping and restaurants are a bit of a drive. Ellen's market is close but it is just a local market. Grocery stores are about 15 minutes if you take the ferry or 30 minutes if you have to drive around. The owner is extremely easy to contact and makes the rental process so smooth. I would highly recommend this property! Looking forward to visiting again!

Summary: This is the second summer in a row that we stayed here, and it was just as nice if not bettter than the first stay. Penelope is quick to respond to email questions and has a plethora of suggestions of things to do in the area. The house is clean and well-supplied. Our pup enjoyed being able to run free and explore the grounds and spent most of her time running around the yard and down the dock, chasing crabs, and lazing in the sun. Human adults and teens/tweens alike enjoyed puzzling, playing games, kayaking and canoeing, swinging in the hammocks, catching crabs, roasting smores over the evening fires, and relaxing on the dock. It was great to be able to cook our meals as it made it easier to be lazy about leaving the house. Very much hope to be back again soon.
