The Beach House is located approximately 300 yards along the drive from Saltmoore House and a leisurely stroll between buildings will take around five minutes. Guests can enjoy seasonal menus across three restaurants, from refined Brasserie dishes to handcrafted sourdough pizzas. Spa treatments, thermal experiences and a state-of-the-art gym are also available at The Sanctuary at Saltmoore. Please note: Spa access is charged additionally and not included in the room rate. Positive: Lovely ambience and spacious rooms. Plenty of parking. Good restaurant and one of the best breakfasts you can ever have.

Negative: Someone had been smoking in our room prior to our visit. Bad smell in room and cigarette butts on the patio!

Positive: Beautiful location and grounds. The decor is tasteful with some lovely details especially the floral arrangements. The rooms in the beach house are nicely decorated but nothing special.

Negative: The staff were nice but needed some training to get the details right, how they addressed you or answered a query needed to be a bit more sophisticated. The food from The Pizzeria and breakfast could be vastly improved for a hotel of that level. There weren’t any locks on the inside of bedroom doors so I didn’t feel safe.

Positive: We had a good room. Comfortable, clean and with a good woodland view.

Negative: The breakfast was very average. A good choice of cooked food but a limited buffet selection. Not terrible but Premier Inn standard and not value for money.. The food in the Pizzeria was very poor - we left most of the food and then drove into Whitby to find something better. Were woken up at 6am by children running and shouting. Overall, it’s OK but very overpriced.

Positive: Gorgeous grounds, lovely hotel and lovely rooms.

Negative: In our room the welcome note was addressed to someone else and there was a previous guests toiletries left in the bathroom. The service in the restaurant was rushed, our food arrived within minutes of ordering and they did not have the stock for drinks listed in their menu (they only had one rose wine option and there was no lager on tap). It was Easter Sunday and the roast was bang average at best. I have since written to them to complain and despite an email back reassuring me someone would be in touch, I haven't heard from anyone and it's been 4 weeks since I emailed.

Summary: Underwhelmed and not worth the money.
