Positive: Sandals Barbados was absolutely phenomenal for a mom & daughter trip. We enjoyed all that they had to offer & appreciate how it never felt too crowded. There were so many pool options to choose from and the evening entertainment was wonderful. All of the staff were extremely friendly- Darren was superb for helping us accommodate the best dinner plans and locate the hidden restaurants we couldn’t find. Tasha, one of our servers, spoke with a Bartender to make me a delicious mocktail. Dario, our photographer was a wonderful vibrant person that also helped us make our final choices (there’s so much to choose from). We can’t thank you enough- we will surely be back!
Negative: Waiting for food took a bit long on occasion. But it was always worth the wait!

Negative: The booking system for restaurants appalling - wifi down so often unable to book. Also restaurants on site booked ahead for months - how so? Booked for Greenhouse Restaurant one night- arrived and it wasn’t even open. Spices restaurant for breakfast - food nice - birds disgusting - flocks arrive as soon as you leave the table. No effort made by staff to get rid of them. Staff have swallowed the company guest communication policy and repeat what they are expected to say - with faces devoid of expression or meaning. No loungers on the beach as all booked out by 7.30 am despite a policy of no booking with towels. Very disappointing overall and will not be booking again.
Summary: A boring holiday experience with staff who have no real intetest in ensuring your holidsy goes well.

Positive: Nice gardens. La Parisienne restaurant and the Merry Monkey English Pub had great food and service for dinner.
Negative: Many of the bar, tour desk and service staff could be very abrupt and rude at times to all guests. Computing system didn’t seem to be integrated throughout the complex and booking details got lost. I had told staff on 4 occasions that we didn’t need a shuttle to the airport on check out, as we were relocating to another hotel and would checkout at 9:30am. However, we still got woken at 4am and again at 5am by staff wanting to collect our bags for transport to the airport, as this message hadn’t got through or sorted in their computing system. Lots of disgruntled customers making complaints in the club each day. They always ran out of beach towels at all the pool locations and it would often take 2 hours to restock. I notice from feedback on this site for the past 2 years that many of these issues are recurring problems. Sandals staff write a proforma response about how they’ll sort these issues out but they don’t. The place is understaffed and akin to being on a large cruise liner on land or an adult Disneyland. Not sure that a bowling alley is necessary in Barbados? The place is overpriced and understaffed for the quality of product they provide. Whilst being adults only, it is not a romantic getaway destination.

Negative: Some staffs in bar (swimming pool sandals Barbados, beach bar and bar next to Spices restaurant are very unfriendly. We can feel, we are bothering them. Hotel should send some mystery customers. Worst is the jet ski guy who kick people away from the sea or beach to promote/ serve his customers !! He is rude and not even staff of the hotel … we paid to enjoy the seafront not to hear horrible noise of his machine and be treated like this… By 6:45 AM, EVERYDAY, 95% of the sun beds on the beach are already “ booked” by towels, books and other private items… some people only showed up by lunch time :( Hotel has a beach beds policy but don’t respect it, same for people smoking on the beach, and hide their cigarette butts in the sand 😕 : nobody cares

Negative: Where do I start? No housekeeping for our entire stay. Having to chase clean towels, coffee, cream, etc daily. Having to leave restaurants in search of drinks because the staff just ignore you after being seated. This is not a luxury resort - full stop. The finish in the room was quite poor (paint on the floor tiles, door frames, etc), and one of the patio doors was broken and just didn’t open. When our concierge showed us to the room, he tried that door twice and just brushed it off when he realised it wasn’t going be moving at all! The food is far from 5 star; average at best and the drinks were nothing special either. Having read a fair bit about the Sandals brand, and having paid a very hefty price per night, I expected a decent stay. Honestly, we are not divas and neither are we demanding, but if a hotel sells itself as something then it has to deliver on those promises. Sandals promises a lot and fails miserably. Please don’t waste your money here, when there are alternative, genuine luxury hotels on the island, such as the Fairmont Royal Pavilion for example. The difference there was striking!
Summary: Over-rated and overpriced. This is not 5 star and shouldn’t be sold as a ‘luxury’ resort.
