North cottage has no mains water. Instead we have a private water supply in the form of a rain water harvesting system. Because we rely on rain fall the supply of water may be low at certain times of year. We therefore ask you to be mindful of this particular during dry periods. We will notify you if we feel water levels are particularly low. The water is filtered and is UV purified and safe to drink.
North cottage has a septic tank and we kindly ask that only toilet tissue is disposed of down the toilet. Please no nappies, wipes or ladies personal hygiene items. This is really important as these items can block the system which is costly to clear.

Summary: This has to be one of the best properties we have stayed in. Cosy, comfortable and well equipped with stunning views across the water to Arran, we were very reluctant to leave. It is isolated and quite a drive to the nearest shops but that was one of the attractions for us especially during these strange times. Plenty to see and do on the Kintyre peninsula and a restful place to stay when the weather kept us indoors. Lubna is an excellent host and very quick to respond to questions.

Summary: A wonderful cottage in a stunning setting, perfect for a get-away -from-it-all break. We immediately felt at home and were able to relax and enjoy the ridiculously lovely views. Everything in the cottage was of a very high standard and well exceeded our expectations. The kitchen was particularly well- equipped to meet our every need. A delightful place to be - it felt very hard to leave!

Summary: We had a wonderful time at North Cottage. The situation and views are stunning and the cottage had everything we could possibly need. It felt very welcoming and we were extremely comfortable. It was definitely one of the nicest places all round that we have ever stayed. We found plenty of walks and wildlife in the area and loved watching the swallows flying around the cottage and gannets diving for fish. It was so very peaceful. We just wished we had booked for longer!

Summary: Throughly enjoyed our visit to North Cottage, can't add to what has been already reviewed, other than in our opinion an extremely comfortable cottage with everything there we could possible need to feel right at home. A wonderful part of the world to explore, and through our own experiences we found the communities who live here, so friendly and welcoming. The crews who work the many small ferries in the area especially friendly and always helpful.

Summary: This is a great cottage - smartly designed with a warm and homely feel. It's has fantastic views to Arran which change every moment, when we visited in April our next door neighbours were lambs! It's perfext spot to enjoy the island and also hop to other islands we visited Gigha and Arran during our stay. The butcher and fishmonger in Tarbet are fab as is The Larder. We also enjoyed fish and chips from Tarbert chippy and a great coffee at studio coffee shop on the road to the tarbert ferry terminal. Also visited smokehouse at skipness and walked along to skipness point which was a bracing and beautiful walk. Whole heartedly recommend this cottage and inner Hebridean isles for perfect peaceful and inspiring get away !

Summary: This proved to be an ideal location for our short break, situated in a quiet and beautiful location and North Cottage was very comfortably furnished and well equipped. We enjoyed fabulous weather and so we travelled down and around the peninsula exploring and enjoying the stunning views. Good food is available in Tarbert and in Skipness but it was simply lovely to return to North Cottage each evening and enjoy the peace and quiet and drink-in the views. The location means that a car is a must-have but there is plenty close by, or not so far in a car, to keep most types of visitors very very happy . Will be back.

Summary: Spcacious rooms, well equipped kitchen, comfy large sofa with fabulous view of Arran over the Kilbrannan Sound. The garden area was totally enclosed so ideal for the dogs, just lacking a couple of sun chairs for us to sit in and enjoy the wonderful sunshine that we had most of the week. Nearest pub and lovely beach at Carradale is a 20min drive away but worth it, and half an hour to Tarbert where there's a fabulous restaurant called Starfish I would advise to book in advance. The ferry to Arran is 15mins drive away at Skipness and to 35mins to catch the ferry to Gigha where you must book and have lunch at The Boathouse. A perfect base for exploring this west coastline as far down as Mull of Kintyre and up to Tayvallich which is just over an hour away.
