Summary: We enjoyed the lovely view, infinity pool and the large outdoor space with a variety of dining and seating/lounge areas. I would not recommend this rental for 2 couples. The indoor space is very small and the kitchen only big enough for one person at a time. The design of the bathroom for the second bedroom is awkward since only the shower is en suite & the toilet is accessed from the kitchen - not ideal! There was no BBQ which was a disappointment as it was mentioned in the description when we made the booking, That made cooking even more challenging with the very small kitchen. Overall it wasn’t the best equipped rental we’ve stayed in (kitchen utensils, etc) but it was fine for just us & we loved the outdoor space. Indoors was nicely decorated but could use a little refresh/maintenance it’s looking very worn.

Summary: We stayed at the villa in early July 2022. Martine met us at the villa and showed us around, explaining how everything worked. The villa and the view was beautiful. An unexpected surprise were all the local birds (not a worry as they were tiny and beautiful). They were very familiar with the kitchen and trying to find food scraps from the kids! We enjoyed multiple swims in the pool just gazing at the ocean. The temperature was perfect. The one small issue we had was our kids had a bad reaction to the pool water, with a rash developing all over. Perhaps it had just been shocked with chlorine? It would not stop us from returning though, it was still a wonderful and relaxing week. The location makes you feel right in the rainforest with beautiful plants surrounding you. The drive up is on small and curvy roads, which tested my partners ability to do hill starts using a gear shift! The only thing that would have made it better would perhaps be a ceiling fan in the outdoor areas and mosquito nets in both bedrooms (there was only one in the kids room). Overall the holiday made us want to return again every summer.

Summary: Martine was super helpful and very welcoming, we found the property to be clean and well equipped. The infinity pool is superb and the decor is very inviting. We would recommend and definitely come back again.

Summary: My wife and I spent two weeks in Martine’s villa in Deshais. The villa is even better than the photos can describe. The furnishings and the accessories are superb One is able to cook because she has provided all the essentials including a good oven and cooktop. She even has a dishwasher. Wine glasses and table settings are also well chosen. Design and decor are well appointed. The infinity pool with the view is quite spectacular. We found the best approach to travelling in this area was “ less is more” ! Don’t spend a lot of time driving around the island .The beaches in the area i.e Leroux Cluny and the Grande Anse will satisfy any beach lover. There are some nice restaurants in town including Mahina [ amazing wood oven pizzas] Rayon Verte and also L’Olentik. Martine is very responsive to your needs but also very discreet in ensuring you enjoy her little Shanghra-la. We cleaned out a lot of personal cobwebs by spending time contemplating the World while watching the Caribbean sea from our balcony. Highly recommended!

Summary: We were thrilled every morning by the view from the beautiful wooden deck, out to the bay at Deshaies and beyond to Montserrat in the distance. We loved cooling off in the clean, clear little pool while gazing out at the cliff above the town. The villa was adequately equipped, comfortable, and clean. Be sure to arrive with basic essentials such as soap, bottled water, and toilet paper. The kitchen is small but absolutely fine for preparing meals, which we enjoyed eating on the deck. The outdoor space is just fantastic here — a very comfortable outdoor “living room,” covered and protected from both tropical sun and downpours. Plenty of space for sunbathing as well in four comfortable deck lounges. Easy access to town and beaches (Grande Anse and Cluny) to the north and to good diving and snorkeling at the Cousteau Reserve off Pigeon Island to the south. We loved this home base on Basse Terre and did not want to leave. Best speak French.

Summary: We spent seven wonderful days at Pelican Lodge. The view and the pool really make this place. Out of all the villas on the hillside, this really has the best view. Being sailors we very much enjoyed watching the boats coming and leaving the snug harbor of Deshaies. The house is very comfortable and well laid out. The kitchen is well equipped, we enjoyed preparing meals and dinning out under the stars on the deck. The pool lights at night are really dazzling as change color. The house has a very open feel, but offers great protection from sun and showers when needed. The location was perfect for us. It's a five minute drive down into the picturesque village of Deshaies which has lots of restaurants, bars, shops and a great bakery There are a number of beautiful beaches a short drive away in either direction. There's a large supermarket, Super U, located about 15 minutes away in Sainte Rose. The owner was a pleasure to meet, everything was handled very smoothly and cordially. Our only regrets is that we didn't book Pelican Lodge for two weeks!

Summary: We loved the outdoor space, beautiful little birds visiting us on the terrace in the morning, a quick dip in the pool with a spectacular view. All made for a relaxing holiday. In the light of Zika etc I would suggest nets over the bed and then the waking up with the doors to the veranda open would be real bliss.
