Summary: This was our first time visiting Sapelo Island, but it definitely wont be our last! The island was beautiful and peaceful; exactly what we were looking for. The cottage waa adorable and absolutely spotless, the bedding was comfortable and we had everything we needed. The Jeep allowed us to explore every nook and cranny of the south end of the island and we were happy to have it. The food we had cooked for us by Barbara Bailey was delicious and she made a delicious chocolate cake for my birthday. This was an experience that we'll treasure!

Summary: This was our second time staying at this adorable cottage. Just as great as first time. We love getting away and having a beach all to ourselves. The cottage is well thought out and very comfy. The host is very sweet and very on top of communication. Will definitely stay here again.

Summary: Everything you could want for a remote island stay was provided with the love and care of an owner who obviously treasures their home. We dined on Barbara's dinners both nights and they were wonderful and Chris's tour of the island was great! As others have said, the jeep was a little rough, but we were grateful to have use of it. We would love to return to this truly special place in the future.

Summary: This is a cute, small cottage in a sparse neighborhood setting. The area was very quiet and incredibly peaceful. We were only at the house in the evenings and early to mid mornings, the rest of the time we were out exploring and enjoying the wonders of Sapelo. Other than the small community of Hog Hammock and the University of Georgia's Marine Institute this is pretty much an undeveloped island. The beach is wonderful, we walked end to end. There's a beautiful nature trail taking you on the beach, through the woods (maritime forest), marsh, and sand dunes (boardwalks where necessary). If you're looking for bars, restaurants, gift shops and putt-putt, this is not for you. If you're looking for peaceful almost wilderness setting, bingo, this is it. One must keep in mind the way to and from the island is by ferry, and you must work on it's schedule. A truly fantastic place. Looking forward to going back.

Summary: What a charming place! Built originally by Sapelo's famous basket maker Allen Green, it had fallen into grave disrepair following his death. The current owner has restored it into a small, sweet cottage with a deck, and it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Great fishing too!

Summary: We had a lovely stay on Sapelo! The ferry ride was seemless - they definitely leave on time so we were glad to have arrived early and enjoy the scenery from the boat. Chris helped us find the cottage and we quite enjoyed the ride over, driving the jeep makes for a unique experience - it still runs, but you can ask Chris about any part of it if you're nervous. The cottage was very clean and tidy, very lovely, and had enough space for us, and more amenities than we needed! The *only* downside is that the AC unit, which keeps the Cottage very comfortable, is a bit loud and sometimes kicks in for short periods of time, so we might have opted to keep it off if we stayed the last night. Walking around various parts of the island was a dream with the beautiful trees, beaches, historic sites. And we only saw a couple of people in passing the whole time we were there! Unfortunately, we had a hurricane come through a bit after our stay was to end which caused the ferry to stop running the day before we were to leave (they won't put anyone in danger by running the ferry in bad weather), so we had to make other arrangements for the last couple days. Penny was very kind to let us know about the adjusted ferry schedule as soon as those decisions were made. This meant we missed out on the tour from Chris of the north part of the island, so we'll have to come back for that! The meals from Barbara were very good, and it was nice to not have to cook, so we highly recommend. We were delighted to have met Chris and Barbara, and wish we had time to interact with them a bit more. The visitor center on the mainland is also worth peeking into, but it's not open every day. We loved our stay and hope to return! Thanks, Penny!
