1 Bedroom Cabin in Pawling

Modern rustic secluded cabin. 1 1/2 story lofted open space. Running tap well water, heat pump/AC, wood stove. Private nature surround with working garden and exposed stone. Close to Metro North Train into NYC (20 min walk) or 3 min in car. 1 1/2 hrs drive north of Grand Central Station. Taxi service available to and from train. Near the Appalachian Trail, hiking, golf, skiing and nature.
Appalachian trail is near by for lots of good hiking. There is a butterfly farm around the corner. Golf course around the corner in the other direction.. good for golf or cross country skiing..
Bike,(I have 3) walk, or taxis can be called at any time...
I bought a nice 1973 26 foot airstream, which also sleeps 2. Nicely perched on the property, far enough away from the house. The airstream has central heating , AC, stove fridge and hot and cold water, working shower seasonally.
2 pair of snow shoes for winter, and building an outdoor wood sauna by end november..

Summary: The cabin was very clean, and comfortable. The host was amazing! We enjoyed watching and listening to nature. We bonded as a Family with game night, a dance challenges..etc. There are also some places you can go in the area. We went to the book cove/ antique store...great little place. If you take the train in, like we did, cabs arrive within 10 minutes. If you drive, you have a little more flexibility in where you can go or do. We can not wait to go again next year. Thank you Thomas!

Summary: Secluded private well appointed cabin in a wooded area with everything you need. We enjoyed the patio with great weather to relax outside. Easy access to everything and Thomas was so helpful with ideas for our adventures out to kayak and bicycle which worked out very well.

Summary: We had a great weekend at Thomas' house in Pawling. The house has clearly been styled with a keen eye for design. We, knowing nothing about interior design, decided it was "Industrial Bohemian" haha. Although the house is somewhat small, the loft and large windows lining the walls make the space feel very large. If you have small children its probably not the place for you as there are lots of delicate items and fabrics as well as steep loft stairs. Cell service is spotty so be aware of that. Thomas lives on the grounds and is available whenever needed. All in all, a truly lovely property.

Summary: Sweet spot up on a hill. The silence is overwhelming and it's the perfect break from the city. I took MetroNorth, which saved me from renting a car, and Tom picked me up, which was great. (Cabs also available). He showed me the ropes and then let me be. Not a lot "to do" nearby, FYI, but that's the point. Enjoy!

Summary: This place is easy to get to from NYC with amazing hiking nearby. I felt the description was quite accurate. Know that it is rustic. Lived in a bit. But quite unique. We had a very good experience.

Summary: We needed a quick and easy getaway from the city and this was perfect. A charming cottage with all comforts. Even with the rainy/overcast weather, we enjoyed a lovely weekend just us and our dogs. We even got out to the walk across the hudson. Tom was welcoming and provided us with information about the area. He was the perfect host.

Summary: This beautiful property offers a rare combination of location, accessibility, authenticity and comfort. The host, Thomas, was very welcoming, responsive and available to accommodate our stay in the best possible way. We highly recommend this rental for a couple, a family, or a group of friends. Property: The very charming cabin has a rustic and authentic look, fits well in its environment but at the same time offers all the comfort and cleanness of a renovated space. After Thomas showed us the place and gave us all the practical details we needed, we directly felt at home and enjoyed the comfort, decoration and vibe of the place. It is spacious and feels peaceful, all the more since it is located in a very quiet environment, surrounded by woods. It has a large open kitchen, a very clean and spacious bathroom, a large loft upstairs with the double bed, a nice living room with a large dining table and a fireplace (accommodates 2 additional people), and a lovely terrace + garden around the cabin. The design of the cabin is modern with plenty of light coming through the large windows but at the same time feels authentic and integrated in its environment. Location: The location is also particularly convenient as it is close to the Metro North (Harlem line, HM Valley Wingdale stop). Even if having a car is more comfortable to get around, you don't absolutely need it and can also just come by the train, especially if the weather is not too cold/rainy as you can access the Nature Reserve/hiking trails/closest village with a bike (Thomas kindly provided 2 bikes). Host/Owner: Thomas was very welcoming, accommodating and available. We wanted to go hiking and he had great recommendations and explained how to get there. Activities: Hiking: The Pawling Nature Reserve is beautiful, quiet and easily accessible from the cabin. The Appalachian trail is also very close and great for hiking. Pawling: There is not much to do in this small town but is it lovely and quiet, we spent 2 hours there on our way back. Rest/read: the cabin feels very peaceful and we liked just spending some quality time reading, talking, having dinner (there are all the utensils you need if you feel like cooking) and enjoying the fireplace. We only explored the nearby area as we did not have a car but there was more than enough to see / do for 2 days. We felt like 2 days was short and would have liked to spend more time in this beautiful place, we would definitely go back!
