Only rented for a restricted number of weeks each year, our holiday home is situated in the picturesque village of Pennautier on the banks of the Fresquel river, only minutes away from the Canal du Midi and the historic city of Carcassonne. This villa offers the best of both worlds as it is set in an extremely large private garden, with secluded terrace and pool but within a few minutes walking distance of two bakeries, village store, bar, tabac and the excellent Chateau restaurant. A comfortable and airy home from home with a large open plan living area which leads onto the poolside terrace which is perfect for alfresco dining and barbequing. Ideally located to take advantage of all the wonderful sites, traditions and activities available in this beautiful area. Only minutes by car from Carcassonne airport and retail area, 40 mins to Narbonne beach or 15 mins to Carcassonne Lake/Beach resort.
Standard rental in July and August is Saturday to Saturday only.

Summary: Not what we expected and not what was presented online. House and contents v tired. Broken and sharp edged paving around the pool, dead plants left in pots. Greasy kitchen shelves. Dirty dishwasher and shower filter. Dirty underwear left in chest of drawers. No chairs and no towel rails in bedrooms. No internet. Uncomfortable beds, ones round the pool were much better! Internal lighting v. poor throughout. Scum and mildew around the shower door frame. The entrance to the property not inviting and rear garden a mess. We would have moved out if we were able to. Owners paid cleaners for a full service, think they were robbed. It was very disappointing. The plus’s are the pool and location.

Summary: Overall we were really happy with our stay. The location in Pennautier is excellent with a very short walk to the corner shop and boulangerie in the mornings. LeClerc at Carcassonne is a 5 minute drive away at most. The swimming pool is the perfect way to cool off from a hot day, although it's not massive and a little shallow even in the deep end. The house would benefit from aircon in the future, but we still managed to keep it relatively cool in the recent heatwave during the day, but sleeping would certainly have been easier with aircon.

Summary: The house was great for all our needs, with its lovely private garden and pool. It was comfortable and cool. The village was very close to the airport and Carcassonne, with plenty of amenities and so peaceful and quiet. We had a lovely time at the lake and in Carcassone itself, and we enjoyed visiting the nearby chateau and its restaurant. It really was perfect, and provided the easiest of holidays and we’d certainly like to return. Thank you!

Summary: The village setting is pleasant and practical. The property is charming and adequately equipped. The beds are comfortable. There are some negatives that reduced our overall impressions. The pictures overstate the condition of the property and it is generally a little tired. On arrival the property was musty and the outside was dirty. I had to clean the BBQ grilles. One garden photo is probably of next door. The garden itself is a neglected rough patch which is not pleasant to walk or play on, with broken washing line supports and a broken swing. The pool surround has cracked in several places exposing edges that bare feet easily find. The pool was dirty on arrival and was not cleaned during the week despite assurances, resulting in a cloudy pool on departure. The neighbour's garden housed a pack of beagles which would set up a howl several times during the day and night. After we emailed the owner, they were removed halfway through the week. We nevertheless had a pleasant and enjoyable week but if we had known about these issues we probably would not have booked.

Summary: The house itself and the village were lovely. The owner was very helpful. We did however have some problems with noisy neighbours doing building work.

Summary: 3 generations enjoyed a wonderful week in this very French villa - we loved the pool and the barbecue area. Perfectly situated in a lovely village with a boulangerie to walk to every morning and carcassone only a short drive away. We had a fantastic time. Thank you.

Summary: This is a very nice villa in a good location. It has a good size pool which is perfect on a hot summers day, of which we had plenty. It has a good mix outside of shaded space and room for sun beds. The garden has the sun all day so is well set up for outside living. The kitchen is well equipped, the bedrooms are a good size and comfortable and the bathroom looks newly refitted. There is no WiFi but we had no trouble getting 4g most of the time. UK stations, BBC, ITV were also available on the satellite TV. At evening time the insects get quite busy so it’s worth taking insect repellent and mosquito spray. Using the shutters keeps the house fairly cool, it does make it a bit darker inside than we are used to but it makes sense and even though it was very hot on some days it felt comfortable inside at night. There is a good supply of supermarkets and restaurants within 5 to 10 minutes drive and a nice bakery in the village. If you want a quiet relaxing holiday in a comfortable home in a nice location this would be a great choice.

Summary: ' A lovely well equipped private villa in a pretty village very close to all amenities. The villa had a large garden with a good patio and private pool area. We found easy access to shopping and the historic city of Carcassonne with a host of bars and restaurants. Debbie the owner was great throughout our booking process, good communications and reassurance at all stages with some helpful information and tips on the local area. All in all we had a great time and experience and would recommend if you want to holiday in Sth West France- The Price family , Nth Essex'

Summary: This is the second time that we have booked this villa. Having looked at other villas it became clear that this one offered everything we needed and most certainly provided the best value for the price. It is an authentic, charming villa in a beautiful private location and yet amenities right on your doorstep and minutes from the airport, supermarkets and Carcassonne. We were with our best friends and the villa is ideally sized and laid out to maximise our time together with the open-plan living/dining/kitchen and immediate access to the beautiful pool, outside dining area and beautiful garden beyond. We wanted somewhere that felt very 'French' and this certainly did. Added to this, the level of service and efficient correspondence from Debbie (owner) was first class. Thank you again, a truly memorable holiday.
