Positive: The hotel is located on a hill overlooking the nearby water and the views are gorgeous. There is a shuttle that runs from the train station to the hotel but my friend and I didn't take it, as the walk of the hill is totally doable, we did it twice. Hotel is the perfect place to stay after a day spent at the Pearl Island Museum and the hill is at the edge of a sleepy little town, super quaint and peaceful. Loved the selection at the breakfast buffet here. If you book a room with breakfast included, you'll get a little ticket at check-in that gets handed to the host when you arrive for breakfast. The spread included udon, breads, salad, ochazuke, french toast, and various other Japanese and Western breakfast dishes. The hotel does have a restaurant that serves other meals, but if your preference is to go to town to explore, do plan on making reservations ahead or just walk around a bit to test your luck with what's open/available. I would honestly love to do another overnight trip here. The room was also very spacious. Toilet and sink were in a separate area to the bedroom. The shower and bathtub were on the balcony but there is a cover; it makes for a great bath at night.
Negative: Overall I liked the hotel very much, just some nit-picky things. Because the hotel is on a hill surrounded by nature, there's not way to stop there from being bugs and the like. The hotel is very clean and well maintained so I wasn't worried about bugs in the bedroom, but the shower/bath is outside. I wasn't swarmed, but it was enough to be not fully comfortable. Also, pillows weren't super comfy.
Summary: Lovely Hotel on a Hill with Private Bath and Great Staff

Positive: Loved everything about this place. The kindness of the staff was exceptional. They went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. For example, the day we arrived, a staff member drove us to get food since we did not have any. The onsen was very nice, the rooms were comfortable and quite and everything was very clean.
Negative: The hotel is at the top of a hill. If you like to walk, like we do, not a problem, but if not take a taxi.
Summary: One of my favorite places

Positive: The service provided by the staff was excellent and on a standard that I'd expect from a more expensive facility. They have a number of staff that speak English on site so you don't have to worry if you don't speak Japanese. The shuttle bus driver was very friendly which started the stay off on a positive note. I stayed in single room with the bath on the balcony which was very enjoyable and had views out to Toba and the islands beyond. The kaiseki meal in the evening was very good and included Ise lobster.

Positive: The room was lovely as was the play area for the kids & the onsen.
Negative: They don’t allow same day reservations for the dinner course and the town has almost nothing to offer food wise despite what google maps shows.
Summary: Good for families; but reserve dinner because there isn’t anything to eat anywhere else.
