The Twin Lakes Cottage is a dreamy lakeside getaway in South Salem, NY in Westchester County, less than 90 minutes from New York City. Featuring a beautiful yard and spectacular views overlooking the idyllic 65-acre Lake Oscaleta, this cozy bungalow is appointed with stylish + modern furnishings. You'll find Brooklinen sheets, pillows and comforters in every bedroom, and Brooklinen towels and luxury soaps in every bathroom. Guests can help themselves to unlimited seltzer, a variety of coffee, tea and hot cocoa and K-Cups, and roasting sticks for S'mores.
Lake activities include a refreshing soak, paddle boarding and canoeing (provided) and fishing (Lake Oscaleta boasts some of the best bass fishing in New York State). You can also simply relax in the rocking chairs on the deck to take in the spectacular lake views.

Summary: Lovely lake! Great views. Master bedroom beautifully decorated. Only downside: ground floor (and third bedroom) is quite musty. Not unusual for a house right by the water. But would have been less than pleasant to have a guest stay down there. Luckily we were just three so we used the two bedrooms and the pubic space upstairs which was all quite nice.

Summary: RENTER BEWARE! It is very expensive for a mouse-infested, dirty house with a wet basement. Just the highlights: Beautiful warm lake Mouse excrement everywhere in kitchen cabinets (GROSS!) Water heater broke ice maker broke (never fixed) The basement "room" is musty and damp, made worse by a broken water heater. The roof leaks when it rains. The Swing chairs are moldy, and the gas grill was left dirty and uncovered. The walkway to the lake is uneven, and the boat house/top deck was unavailable due to the frozen lake from winter, but it was not repaired. The house needs a lot of work and some serious TLC. The air conditioner is an OLD unit in the kitchen. Other than that, there are fans, but couldn't keep up with the day's heat. It was very disappointing, especially considering the nightly cost.

Summary: My husband, dog and I had a great Memorial Day weekend at this lakeside property. The house is a short drive away from NYC and is situated perfectly between the quaint towns of Ridgefield and Katonah. We had a good time enjoying the lake and nearby hikes.

Summary: We really enjoyed staying at this cottage, much better than 2 rooms in a hotel. Very quiet, fully equipped kitchen.Easy to prepare meals when we wished. We visit the Ridgefield area several times per year and will definitely consider staying here again.
