Positive: Friendly staff. Comfortable room (if a little cramped). Quiet. Convenient parking. Good dog walking areas. At the time of booking there were no double rooms available, but on arrival we asked and were transferred to a double.

Negative: Having been told the hotel was very busy and that we would need to book for the restaurant, it turned out there were 5 other tables occupied and within 20 minutes we were the only ones in the dining room. No drinks orders from the table and there was nobody at the bar. A long wait for service and the drinks had to be paid for separately.

Summary: A comfortable and convenient stop over to break a long journey. Lacked atmosphere.

Positive: All the staff were lovely & friendly,made to feel very welcome.The breakfast & evening meal was very nice.We loved the look & music it was like going back in time.Would defo stay again if in the area.

Negative: The rain we had during the night was bouncing off the window ledge,room 105 ,there must have been a problem with the guttering, I mentioned it to the manager who is a credit to the hotel,on the morning & he said i should have told him but as it was during the night ,I didn't know,but apart from that we had a lovely stay.

Positive: Whole hotel is Super Clean Food is amazing Room was big, bright with a 4 poster bed Fantastic nature walks right outside the hotel (with red squirrels) Very professional & friendly staff

Negative: Some of the guests, a group of contractors from the nearby motorway roadworks were staying there. They were loud, foul mouthed & obnoxious towards the hotel staff, who handled it well with patience & politeness.

Summary: Very good overnight stay in a lovely hotel in a beautiful setting surrounded by nature & wildlife

Positive: The location was a quiet countryside one near a fast flowing river and small forest off the M6. A large hotel which needs to be approached from the A6 rather than the B road as the tarmac single track had very large potholes difficult to miss.

Negative: The accommodation was very good and clean, but the full breakfast was let down by cold and partially cooked food - a shame because a little bit of care maintaining the hot plates would have made the food palatable.

Summary: Very good accommodation in quiet location let down by poor breakfast.
