Positive: Amazing farm stay experience. Lots of animals to interact with. This place is perfect for that escape from the city life and allows you to sit back and enjoy some quality time away from it all. We stayed in the Shearers' quarters and the messroom is well equipped to cook up 3 meals a day if you wish. The open fire place is the perfect way to spend the evening and gives you the opportunity to connect with other guests. The host Cally is very knowledgeable has some great tips and recommendations for taking in and enjoying food and local attractions to the area. Star gazers dream of a night.

Negative: Was a little.confusing making the booking through Booking.com in regards to our room and whether it had an ensuite or not. Although it ended up being just across the hall opposite our room, it is well equipped with everything you need and more.

Positive: Rathmore is a wonderful /authentic rural experience! We stayed in the shearers quarters with warm comfy beds,spacious bathroom and a well equipped kitchen .Highlights included meeting the owners to feel valued as guests and learn about the property. Dinner in the homestead was fantastic as was rowing in the lake while a platypus swam around our boat.

Positive: We are two adults traveling with a 14M old baby, and Cally kindly upgraded us to a private room so we could stay more comfortably. The building has preserved its original charm while still being very clean. The farm is huge, and our child could run around safely and freely.

Positive: Wonderful place to tick off the elusive mystical platypus as they have 5 in their Riverlet. Added bonus was the Aurora Australis we were treated to over 2 nights. The shared kitchen was a bonus. Cally and John will even cook you a meal if booked in advance. Farm animals for the kids, lots of different sheds to enjoy the view and the wildlife. It’s just out of Bothwell which has one of the oldest and most comprehensive golf history museums. You can even play a round of golf at Ratho Farms Bothwell Golf Course the oldest in Australia.

Negative: Nothing not to like it’s a historical property that is exceptionally well maintained.

Positive: The location was Central to the destinations we wanted to explore and it was quiet even though it was not far from the road.The farm animals were nice to see. The best thing was meeting two sincere English couple which are now our best mates.

Negative: The room we had (Possum room) was small and it was only good enough for a couple of nights not 4 nights like we had.The ensuite was modern, the bed was uncomfortable and squeaky.Could hear the floorboards in the next bedroom creak and the bed squeak too. The washing machine was outside in a cupboard, no dryer but if you had the other room it did come with a washing machine and dryer but you had to pay more for that room only. The host was nice and friendly.

Positive: The location was remote and we liked that. The host, Cally, was wonderful and the meals she supplied were awesome, the property was very clean and had all the basic supplies.

Negative: Shearers is communal living with small en suite bedrooms apart from Platypus room No1 that has exclusive use of the “laundry room/bathroom” two steps across the hall but the hall is the main thoroughfare for all guests to access the shared kitchen. There are no tvs so if you use it as a base that’s ok but if you’re looking for the luxury stay in a quaint old house make sure you read the small print and contact Cally to stay in the house, not in Shearers quarters which is a renovated shed at the top of the field. Possibly the host could consider 2 separate listings, one for the main house and one for the other accommodation options? Despite the communal aspect it did enable us to meet a brilliant Aussie couple who we are keeping in contact with and this would not have happened had we been in our own little room.
