Positive: We had a great stay at Shimoda View Hotel. My partner is vegan, and the chef kindly arranged full vegan dinners for her on both nights we stayed there. Not many other places were willing to do this. Also the quality and care put into the food was greatly appreciated! My partner felt very well catered to. The staff were all very friendly as well, especially Kaori and Devi who went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. The room itself was excellent. It was very spacious, with a private open air bath overlooking the ocean. Well worth the stay here - hope to come back someday!

Positive: Location is perfect, very nice view, it’s an old hotel . The bar was perfect too, very nice bartender
Negative: The room was dirty, spider web on the ceiling, and water spots, walls have mold , we understand coz it’s an hotel , but we needed to call the front desk because duvet had a blood markings in the middle . And the old guy staff two of them one in the front dest not so cheerful ,not welcoming , the duvet guy was also had a bad attitude, like it was the linen guys fault .
Summary: Better to look for other hotels around

Positive: The room is really spacious, the view was wonderful, we were on the 9th floor and we could see the whole beach and some of the islands too. The breakfast and dinner was really good as well, I recommend getting both as there are no other restaurants in walking distance. We could park out car without reservation, and the beach was a few minutes of (slopy) walk away.
Negative: There were insects in the outdoor onsen, but given that we were there in summer this is unavoidable.
