Positive: WOW what a great little hideaway in Central Saanich. We were perfectly located to visit Victoria to the South. Sidney to the East and up Island to Nanaimo. On our arrival we were greeted by a warm toasty fireplace going along with a selection of goodies to enjoy. There were also toiletries and other supplies we could use. Nothing was a problem for Robyn our host to help make our stay even more special. This was my friend and mine’s first holiday together and having Robyn’s house feel like home was a blessing. Robyn left us fresh eggs and strawberries in the fridge along with cute little notes telling us how much she enjoys hosting us for the eight days of our holiday. Robyn shared with us all her favourite spots to visit along with us enjoying a wine at her camp site at Island View Beach. Only a few minutes drive from our room, which is a must do while you are staying here. My friend and I enjoyed quite a few sunsets and sunrises at this beach which is filled with driftwood and many structures have been created out of the massive amount of driftwood on this beach. Robyn allowed us time to spend with the chickens in the back yard and even a bbq was available for our use. We enjoyed cooking our own meals in the small but adequate kitchen and the drip coffee maker was a delight. We enjoyed the closeness of The Butterfly Farm and Butchart Gardens. Our days were full of adventure, enjoying the drive coming back to our little home away from home each night. Robyn you are a real gem and offering us your home to share was a delightful experience and cannot wait to visit again. Highly recommended with value for money and a wonderful experience on Vancouver Island.
Negative: That we had to leave after our eight night stay. It was a sad goodbye to Robyn our host
Summary: exceptional quality host with little touches made us feel so special

Positive: This makeshift suite off a family’s garage clearly had a lot of TLC put into it—small touches like a fresh garden bloom on the table and pleasant, cozy decor. Eggs from their chickens in the fridge was a thoughtful gesture but with no bread to make a slice of toast with it I passed on cooking an egg or eating peanut butter from the jar. I liked that the family seemed to be quite quiet in the morning while I was sleeping down below.
Negative: The experience was undermined by communication challenges and lack of practical support when I was stuck. Although Robyn had mentioned she might be able to help me with a short ride , she was completely unreachable when I lost my ride—no response to calls or emails. I ended up on a 1.5-hour bus ride instead of a 10-minute drive. That did not become a big issue until later , she texted all the reasons she was no longer willing to help with rides . I felt misled by her earlier offer and alarmed by herputting me down for trying to take her up on it. She went overboard, suggesting I was asking for a ‘valet service’ and recommended I stay at the Empress Hotel instead, costing about $300 - $15000 per night when she knew I needed the $100 or less range. She repeated several times that no other guest had this “issue”—which was no more than an attempted request for assistance —likely because other guests arrived by car. She accused me of ‘setting her up’,which was also alarming. For me, the “issue” here was the lack of responses when I needed communication on day of arrival and manner of response when we did get in touch. Her communications about the matter were the opposite of calming or welcoming.
Summary: If you have a car, don't mind managing quite a few confusing details and catch the hostess on a less hectic day, thi

Positive: The accommodation was very clean, comfortable and easy to find. Robyn and David were very accommodating and and knowledgeable about the area and helped us arrange an additional night's stay. Our suite was loaded with various ammenities such as coffee, teas, juices and munchies, all very much appreciated after a long day's drive. The location was close to everything we wanted to see and do.
Negative: We couldn't stay any longer.
Summary: A very comfortable and pleasant place to stay.
