There is nothing more relaxing or beautiful than the view from the front porch of our cottage. The colors of the ocean change throughout the day, so you never tire of just sitting and looking at the panoramic view in front of you. If you are wanting a relaxing, quiet, and beautiful place to vacation, this is it.
Our 400 sq. ft. cottage is simply and comfortably designed. One main room includes kitchen, sitting, and queen bed. There is a separate bath with tiled shower, toilet, and vanity. Because the cottage is built on 12' pilings, there is also plenty of room underneath for outdoor enjoyment.
We fell in love with the island and the people of Spanish Wells on our first visit in 2017. From that point on, we knew we would love to have a home here. We found a beautiful property overlooking the ocean, and worked with a local draftsman to create what we believe is a perfect tiny home. We moved into our new little island cottage in July 2020 and could not be happier with our vacation life here. Because we have lifelong roots in the music of middle Tennessee, we wanted to incorporate that part of our life into the name of our cottage. We settled on TennesSea Shine as a tribute to our home state, its music and moonshine, and to the sunshine and sea of The Bahamas.
Our kitchen is nicely equipped with most anything you need to prepare a meal. So, take that fishing charter early in the week and cook your fresh catch while you are here! You can choose to dine inside at our little dining table and still enjoy the view of the water. Or, you can choose to dine at our table on the porch and enjoy the ocean breeze while you eat.
Our sitting area includes a loveseat recliner for relaxing after a day at the beach. (We just ask that you keep the coverlet on so as to insure the fabric stays clean and stain free for everyone who stays.) And, we have two other chairs in case you meet friends on the island who would like to join you for coffee or a glass of wine. Our smart TV package includes cable TV (use the large remote for channel selection), as well as Roku for watching Netflix or Amazon Prime. Just be sure and bring your account sign in information to use while you are here (and, don't forget to sign out of your accounts when you leave.) And, we have complimentary wifi throughout the cottage. Password information is included in the guest book.
Our bedroom area is a built in queen sized bed with a comfortable mattress and hotel bedding. There is a nice sized closet where we provide hangers, shelving, and baskets for your use. We've made sure to include plenty of outlet spaces on the bottom shelves on both sides of the bed for any electronic devices you choose to bring.
Our bathroom is actually quite roomy for a tiny cottage. The tile shower, vanity, and storage shelves allow space for any items you'd like to store/place there.
To get to the island, you will fly to North Eleuthera Airport (ELH). We have flown Delta, American, and Silver from the United States. There are other airlines that fly in from Nassau. We are happy to arrange taxi service to Spanish Wells from the airport, if requested. A representative from Pinder's Taxi will be at the airport to meet you. You will ride in a 15 passenger van to Gene's Bay Dock (about a 10-15 minute ride), where you will board a ferry with the same driver as the van. The ferry ride over to Spanish Wells is about 5-10 minutes. And, just the ride into the lovely harbor will make you feel like your vacation has begun!
Our caretakers, Vince and Lori Newbold, will be at the dock in Spanish Wells to meet you and escort you to our cottage. You'll need to rent a buggy (aka golf cart) for your stay. If you'd like more information regarding a rental, just let us know.
We are also happy to share that our sweet friends, who built the cottage beside ours (see photos of both cottages), now have their cottage on the rental market. If you are considering a couples trip, these two tiny cottages would be perfect! Each couple would have their own private space, but it's just a quick walk over to either place for brunch, dinners, or a glass of wine together. Summary: The cottage is beautiful, clean and has an amazing view! Pretty quiet too! The deck was one of my favorite places to go sit and have dinner after beaching all day! The kitchen was well equipped and had drinking water, the bathroom was very spacious and the bed is absolutely so comfortable even more comfortable than my bed at home! Communication with the owner was flawless and she even arranged the transfers! She answered all my questions quickly as well. I’ve been to Spanish Wells this made the fifth time and by far the nicest place I’ve stayed at! The cottage is on Russell but it’s only a 7 minute drive in a golf cart to the beach so not a big deal at all and for me I’d rather have the peace and quiet so I don’t mind a little drive. The sandbar is a must! Fun atmosphere and good company, not to mention it has a little beach so you can swim in the ocean and get food and cocktails! Did I mention it’s like 5 minutes from the cottage too! And Buddha’s is a favorite of mine. Service is great there and he gives ya a lot of food for your money and ya get full! His burgers are fabulous with homemade buns too! Wonderful stay and I will return to to stay here again! I only have a few small suggestions and they are: at some point maybe get a grill and maybe a medium sized cooler. Idk if there was a cooler anywhere but I didn’t find one (I did have a small cooler I brought with frozen meat in it to help with food costs) and maybe some larger beach chairs.

Summary: I am truly all about COMFORT, and TennesSea Shine stilt cottage exceeded my expectations. I felt like I’d “gotten away” with something (more than a just a lovely retreat), yet from I walked in the door, somehow, it felt like Home...or like how Home should feel. Donna and the Newbolds were AWESOME! Their friendliness and kind support took me by surprise. I got lost returning home :) one evening, called them really nervous, and in 3 minutes the Newbolds were to my rescue! The only “noise” I noticed during my stay was the song of a few goats that held a pre-run meeting :) one morning. I managed to record the dash as one of numerous beautiful moments had while there. Would I return to this lovely place and people? I’d absolutely love to. Thank you, Bonnie & Crew!

Summary: What a beautiful little stilt home! Has everything you need to enjoy a relaxing time on a peaceful little island. Surrounded by the most beautiful and ever changing sea and sky. Nice little kitchen and several restaurants if you don’t feel like cooking. Spacious bath and lovely porch. Best part is waking up to that view right from the very comfortable bed! Recommended for a peaceful downtime and recharge. Definitely would visit again, Caretaker and his wife were awesome.

Summary: TennesSea Shine is exactly as pictured. The view is spectacular and Bonnie is a pleasure to deal with. The kitchen had everything my husband needed to cook dinner. Summary: This little cottage has an amazing view from the covered front porch, living area and from the bed when you wake up! It’s comfortable and beautifully decorated with colors of the ocean which are calming. There are plenty of linens and beach towels for a week’s stay. The only things I would have liked were a washer/ dryer and an outdoor grill.
