Negative: Our stay was unfortunately marred by two recurring issues. The air conditioning was inadequate throughout our stay — the centralised system could not be set below a certain temperature, making it difficult to sleep comfortably at night. We were initially offered only a portable fan as a workaround, and eventually had to move to a smaller room to partially manage the heat. No financial compensation was offered for this room downgrade. While the staff were responsive, it shouldn’t require a room change — let alone an uncompensated one — to achieve a comfortable sleeping temperature. The Wi-Fi also did not work during our stay, which was frustrating.

Positive: Convenient location to transport and main points of interest. Self contained units with washing machines. Convenience stores downstairs. Kids play area was a bonus.

Negative: Was placed in a smoking room despite travelling with young kids. and it stank for the entire stay. Must admit it didn’t cross my mind there would be smoking rooms.

Summary: Good value given location and amenities. Avoid smoking rooms especially if with kids.

Positive: The hotel has a fantastic location, with a metro station just a few meters away, making it super easy to get around the city.

Negative: Our first room on the 32nd floor was unfortunately very hot and muggy, as the air-conditioning wasn’t working properly. After we raised the issue, the staff responded promptly and offered us another room. We were moved to a room on the 24th floor, where the air-conditioning worked much better. However, the new room was not as clean as expected, which was disappointing. Another downside was the dryer, which did not function well. We specifically chose this hotel because we had an excellent experience staying at Somerset Chongqing previously, and as frequent travelers who pack light, having a reliable washing machine and dryer is very important to us. In comparison, this stay did not meet the same standard. The breakfast selection was quite limited, and the service in the breakfast area could be improved. Items such as coffee cups, pancake batter, and eggs often ran out, and had to be requested before being replenished. On a positive note, the front desk staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay, which we appreciated.
