Summary: This is a nice location with the home on the South Branch. It was pretty quiet, even on the weekend. The home was clean and comfortable. The 3 season porch area was a favorite. We observed deer and mink at the river. Our few questions were answered by the owner very quickly. We found it pretty easily, however the map app wanted us to go to the road via Pines Trail, and you need to go in from Steckert Bridge Rd. We visit the area often and certainly hope to stay again.

Summary: We enjoyed our week at the Au Sable river property. From sitting by the river to relaxing on the screened porch, it was a great place to stay. The house has everything you need but is close to town for shopping or dining. I recommend this quiet retreat for anyone wanting to enjoy a peaceful spot in the woods.

Summary: If you're looking for a well cared for, spotless, quiet, peaceful haven to send a few days, River House is it. This was the cleanest, best cared for rental we have ever stayed at, both on VRBO and other sites. From the kitchen counters, microwave, coffee pot to the shiny new looking tub (but it wasn't new), bed coverlets and even towels, everything was spotless. The entire parcel has been cared for and loved so well for years and it shows. It's an easy walk to the river's edge and from the enclosed porch you can catch glimpses of kyakers and canoes on the river,. Our Shepherd/Husky mix enjoyed herself, although she did find it hard not to bark at the pesky snowshoe rabbit that wanted to constantly play right outside the sliding door. Check in was a bit confusing for us only because the chain gate that was supposed to be there was down for propane delivery. Just a moment of confusion before we figured it out. This property was lovely in June, it would be gorgeous in any season, especially autumn and we hope to be able to book it again then.
