Colvin Ranch House is a luxury custom home on 35 acres, which is part of Whetstone Mountain Ranch. WMR is a private 300-acre ranch located 2 miles from Crested Butte. The ranch offers hiking trails, 5 lakes and private access to the Slate River with world class fishing. The largest lake has a campfire area complete with picnic tables and grill. Hike or bike into town on the Deli Trail or Flag the bus at the new Bus Stop at Riverbend. The tranquility and peacefulness of the Colorado Rockies and the convenience of town are all just a jaunt away. The home is located approximately 4.5 miles to the base area of Mt. Crested Butte.
The main house has 6000 Sq Ft with 5 bedrooms and 5 1/2 baths The master suite has a King bed, couch, TV, an en suite with a claw foot tub and walk in steam shower and a deck where you can listen to the streams. The master suite has an adjacent office/sitting/TV area and a a deck with views of the mountains. Downstairs has 3 bedrooms all w/ TVs; 2 junior masters (one with sitting area) with King beds and en suite baths with showers. The 3rd bedroom has a Queen bed with a bath across the hall with a bath/shower combo. All 3 bedrooms have large windows, exterior doors leading to a private covered patio surrounded by ponds and the sound of running streams in the summer. The 5th sleeping area is a bunkroom located off the Den/Media room with 2 Queens and 2 Twin XL beds. The 5th full bath that services the bunkroom is conveniently located off the Den/Media area. All bedrooms have plenty of closet/storage space and 3 laundry spaces for your use.
The Great Room has views in every direction through the multiple large windows. A perfect spot for entertaining large groups with a large remote controlled gas fireplace and 2 outdoor deck areas. The kitchen is outfitted with a Wolfe 6 burner/griddle stove, oven, microwave, warming drawer, Sub Zero refrigerator/freezer and 2 dishwashers. The main dining area seats 8, kitchen nook seats 6 and the kitchen bar seats 5. On the back deck is a propane grill and hot tub that straddles a stream and has a picture framed view of Mt. CB. The main living area and the back deck have a King Systems audio system for your listening enjoyment. Direct TV and wireless internet in all areas of the home. The den/media room is equipped with a 65'' TV, wet bar and wine refrigerator. A great place to watch movies, play games, work puzzles or just hang out. Streams run around the main house with closed in bridges connecting the 3 structures.
The guest efficiency apartment is 700 Sq Ft located above "The Barn," which only stables motorized horsepower. You will find a King bed, sitting/TV area, bath with shower and a kitchen with a gas stove, mini refrigerator, breakfast bar, kitchen table and a balcony with up valley views.

The Town of CB offers a public shuttle to the ski resort, restaurants and other amenities. CB offers many winter and summer activities, all you need is to find your favorite. Whether it is relaxing or mountain time, CB and Colvin Ranch offer it all.

Summary: This house is just wonderful, as are those managing the experience. If imaginable, the place is even nicer than it appears in the photos. Purely majestic. The hiking on the ranch is wonderful, and the regional hiking super accessible. Cathy set us up with a private chef, baker, and florist for the gala birthday dinner party-it was the PERFECT trip.

Summary: Colvin Ranch is amazing! A one of a kind home located in a beautiful mountain setting making you feel miles away from busy life, yet only a quick jaunt to town or to ski. Can't ask for much more. Incredible views from every room, plenty of space for the whole gang to gather together or have private time. Will be back and highly recommend for a truly one of a kind unique Crested Butte experience.

Summary: The property is as impressive as it appears from the website. All rooms have incredible views of greenbelt or mountains, and all have audible sounds of the creek flowing under the house. We were there during a full moon, so the master bedroom was pretty bright for sleeping as there are no drapes. Location, one mile from town is very convenient, but you still feel as though you are isolated when at the property because of how the home is situated. Cathy, who managed the property was attentive and available. Best local restaurant is Soupçon, which I highly recommend. Would highly recommend this property. .

Summary: We enjoyed staying at this beautiful house with just minutes to the slopes! My husband and I, and our two grown adult kids had the best time staying here! The rooms were roomy and the beds very comfortable! The designer kitchen was very spacious with all the wonderful top quality Wolf appliances and three different eating areas ! My favorite was the stunning fireplace with all the smart systems ( surround sound, WIFI , music and smart Tvs) and much more. After skiing all day , we enjoyed the heated floors & steam shower! Spectacular views from every window ! Loved this place and will be back! And Cathy was very nice and wonderful to work with ! Thanks for a wonderful Christmas!! Love from Texas

Summary: My husband and I, along with our grown children, their spouses and one grandchild loved every moment in this beautiful home. We thoroughly enjoyed the property and all it has to offer. The beds are heavenly, and the furnishings, WIFI, TV, music, and kitchen appliances and equipment are all high quality. Plenty of room for everyone to space out and enjoy the week without ever feeling crowded. We grilled out and enjoyed the multiple decks and seating areas. Showers are hot and we appreciated the nice touches of shampoo, soaps, makeup remover pads, etc. washer dryers worked perfectly after I figured out the controls. We would love to stay here again. Thank you for making our daughter's wedding week extra special for our entire family.

Summary: We arrived Monday and our family will be staying here until next Monday. There are 8 adults and an 11 year old. We will post again after our stay but had to share what an amazingly beautiful and well-appointed home this is. Aside from the setting being spectacular, the home itself is really beautiful. We are very impressed by the furnishings and comforts provided for us. We have cooked in the kitchen, grilled out on the deck, and done laundry. We love it.

Summary: Our family of 7 rented the "Lux" Colvin home for Spring Break 2014. We have 5 children and while we would say that the views were beautiful, the beds were comfortable and towels were plentiful, on the second day the dryer overheated and fried our daughters ski coat. (no reimbursement for that) We had ran it on regular heat as we do at home. The manager called a tech in and THE MANAGER CHARGED US FOR THE TECH VISIT!!! He informed me that I should start AIR drying all of our laundry and not using detergent. The washer leaked all over and that was "my fault" for using the detergent that was provided, the dryer upstairs didn't dry (glad we didn't mention that one for fear of more charges) and the tv did not work properly. Sound would go on and off along with the picture and we called the given number for assistance with A/V and they never phoned back and that issue was never addressed. The disposals overflowed, yes both of them along with water overflowing from the dishwashers. They are questionably plumbed under the sink. They plumbing system is open under the sink and not hooked up to the dishwasher. They backed up all over under the cabinet. We cleaned that one up for hours. Yuck! They blamed that one on us too. We "overloaded it." If you plan on using the disposal to clean up the spagetti dinner, be careful b/c it will back up and drain to the downstairs bedroom and they will blame you! We have the pictures of the plumbing, it is ridiculous. Our 5 year old knocked down the only coat rack that is in the front hall (no closet) trying to remove her coat and one of the tips of the arms broke off. This was a true accident and it was not used beyond normal wear and tear. It is a coat rack in front of the window (thank goodness it didn't go the other way) that is not tacked down, has 4 hooks and is supposed to house the coats for all! We explained to the property manager what happened and he was very understanding until time came to give us back our deposit. We were charged 70$ for the repair of the coat rack. There is no place for shoes either btw. We had a great vacation in Crested Butte. This home ended up to be a real disappointment for our family. They took a chunk from the deposit for the listed things above. We have rented from VRBO numerous times and have had great experiences. This was not a great rental. We would recommend looking elsewhere.
