This 4-bedroom, 2 full bath, 1 half-bath house features an open living space with large bedrooms for up to 6 guests. The home offers a cozy feel while having a lot of room and open space. The kitchen and dining area looks out to the back yard and sunroom, which can be accessed through the main living space.
The kitchen is fully equipped with a dishwasher, sink and island for preparing food. The kitchen is filled with plenty of cookware, plates and items to make your stay comfortable: Keurig, Toaster and Large Refrigerator. There is a half-bath located at the bottom of the stairs. Master bedroom is located upstairs with a King bed and master bathroom. There are two bedrooms upstairs with Queen beds and another bedroom with two twin beds. Additionally, there is a full bathroom located in the upstairs hallway.
Laundry room is located on the lower-level and features washer and dryer and is equipped with detergent and cleaning supplies. There is a half-bath on this level as well along with a pool table for guest entertainment.
An outdoor hangout area can be accessed through the lower-level living area.
Approximately 1.64 miles from Merrimac Road (Route 657). The property offers parking accommodations for guests, with space available for up to four vehicles in the driveway.

Summary: My family and I stayed at the Portmore House while visiting my son who is a student at VA Tech. We loved the house and its location. The house was very clean and comfortable. We especially enjoyed watching the sunset from the screened in porch! It was a short drive to campus and a shorter drive to restaurants and shops. We look forward to staying here again on our next trip to Tech!

Summary: Easy (country road) 10 minutes to downtown Blacksburg. While we only had three adults on this trip and a small pooch, this home has plenty of sleeping and living space for several more. Indoor and outdoor spaces for gathering together with well appointed kitchen and outdoor cooking area. Highly recommend!

Summary: We came for a long weekend with our dogs to be near our son at VA Tech. The house is very nicely done and had everything we needed. We enjoyed the front patio, back enclosed porch, and various sitting spaces. Location was good for grabbing something to eat and about 15 minutes from our son’s house near VT. We’d be happy to stay here again.

Summary: We will definitely go back when availability matches our plans. House is nicely decorated with fun basement and backyard, comfortable beds and plenty of space for our alumni daughters and their families. Family room and kitchen were where we spent the most time cooking and sharing meals, listening to music. It was nice quality time with our family all together. On the main level, there is also a screened porch and a small unscreened portion off the kitchen. We enjoyed sitting out there on several occasions. Didn't have the chance to use the firepit downstairs outback but had plenty of wood if weather cooperated (windy). We did use the grill that is provided to cook chicken thighs for our spring game tailgate. Grandkids also enjoyed the pool table in the basement. We highly recommend for those interested in proximity to campus but the ability to return to the peace and quiet of this cozy cottage with plenty of room for the whole family.
