The Villa Quinta da Vala, set in a 5 acres private property to which guests have exclusive use, is located in the Parque Nacional da Serra da Arrabida, 5 Km away from beautiful beaches and 5 Km away from Vila Nogueira de Azeitao- a small historic town surrounded by the national park and well known for its vineyards and wine cellars open to the public. Arrabida beach is considered one of the most beautiful beaches in Portugal, and boasts a natural bay with calm waters, ideal for swimming and snorkeling. the area is also famous for its food so it won't be difficult to find high quality well priced local restaurants as well as top quality ones. Taste the delights of the region from the traditional cheese, deemed to be one of the best in the country, to the Torta de Azeitao, a much sought after local pastry, and the famous Moscatel wine, a sweet wine served as an aperitif. The local specialty is of course a great variety of fresh fish dishes.
House facilities and description: The large well proportioned sitting room is tastefully decorated and overlooks a large patio area with a stunning view over the mountain, ideal for outdoor meals or reading a book in absolute silence. A paradise for children.
Satellite wide screen TV with international channels, Wireless Broadband internet access, iPod sound system, DVD with Surround Sound and a large collection of films to watch are available for guests' enjoyment. The Villa has 5 good sized bedrooms, a sitting room, a dining room and a fully fitted kitchen. There is also a service area with an additional small room and WC. Facing the house, a wide lawn dominates the background. At the end of the path surrounded by vines lies the swimming pool with its own patio area. This is the ideal place to enjoy nature, bird watching and for long walks in unspoiled surroundings, all in close proximity to spectacular beaches.
Boat rental and beaches: The magnificent bay of Portinho de Arrabida, with its clear quiet waters, is ideal for water sports; boat rental can be arranged on request.
The local white sandy beaches are as close as 5 Km and the Arrabida beach is known to be one of the most beautiful beaches in Portugal. With its calm waters, its ideal for swimming and snorkeling.
Scuba diving: Some of the best scuba diving in Portugal can be done from Portinho de Arrabida, a few km away. There is a local scuba diving center where wonderful dives can be organized.

Summary: Perfect home for an extended family with each having a space to escape to. Excellent areas to gather for drinks and large family meals. Forest like ambiance and beautiful pool set away from the house. Delicious vegetable patch. Garden is a children’s dream. Felt re invigorated with a prayer to return for longer.

Summary: Overall we had a brilliant holiday. Loads of room for children to play. Children Loved picking tomatoes and limes in garden the maid Kristinda was absolutely brilliant. She cooked for us several times all from scratch three courses. It was delicious .the villa was quite remote but krisinda did several lots of shopping for us. The only slight negative was it could do with a couple more sun beds. The owner was also very helpful

Summary: We had a lovely holiday staying at Kristina's beautiful house. Kristina was very helpful and always answered quickly to any of our messages. We found the house fine with GPS coordinates but we're glad that it wasn't too dark when driving there the first time since it is quite remote. Then again we totally enjoyed the peace and quiet of the villa and the lovely garden and the super pool. Also the trampoline was hit with the kids. Villa itself has a lovely family feel to it. It is a bit of a labyrinth at first but we totally loved it and with teenagers and smaller kids and two couples, there was plenty of room for everyone. Outside there is a wood fired barbecue and only thing that we missed was better grilling facility (maybe gas grill) with all that amazing seafood available in Portugal. Then again one of the highlights of the holiday was the super seafood rice that Gracinda came to cook for us at the villa! Kitchen has everything you need, outside of the fridge is in need of repair but that is only aesthetic so not a big deal. Villa is a nice distance to Lisbon (less than an hour drive. Children, and adults, enjoyed Parc de Nascoes area and especially the science museum. Also a really nice restaurant Arigato/Casica. We parked the car in Vasco da Gama shopping centre and took a metro to Lisbon centre) We also did daytrips to Obidos (totally recommend, not too crowded at the beginning of June) and Sesimbra (castle and walk on the beach) and Setubal ( highly recommend Xtoria restaurant, brilliant food and service!). Villa provides a nice base for little daytrips and is perfect getaway for lazy holiday days just lounging around.

Summary: We stayed in the villa for a week - 6 adults and one 3 year old. It was amazing on all counts - safe for the baby, loads of space to socialise and equal amounts to get time to yourself! The local area is beautiful with loads to explore yet right on the doorstep of Lisbon so you can enjoy the best of both worlds. For a family getaway this place is ideal and absolutely true to the pictures

Summary: The villa has so much space, extremely well equipped with just about everything you could want. The vegetable garden was fantastic and the ability to pick fresh figs for breakfast was unbelievable. The pool and surroundings were superb with comfy sun loungers, not those cheap plastic white ones that are the norm for rental villas. If you want time away in the sun with absolutely no noise from your surroundings, complete privacy and somewhere with zero light pollution to view the night sky, this is it. Total relaxation guaranteed and extremely safe

Summary: We were a large family group of a wide range of ages - from 3 to 69 years old - and all, without exception, had a fabulous time. If you were particularly tired you could easily just spend a week resting in the gorgeous large property and read books, listen to music, swimming, etc. If however your aim is to explore you can combine all of the above with some extraordinarily beautiful areas of Portugal - Sesimbra, for example among many others. One of the many highlights was the ability to "contract" the two ladies/housekeepers who can not only clean and iron for you but also do the food shopping and cook some delicious typical Portuguese meals; their feijoada and fresh fish grilled in the garden were some of the best I have had. A really beautiful place to be and an immensely warm welcome.

Summary: Met onze familie, twaalf personen in totaal, hebben wij een fantastische vakantie beleefd in Portugal! De Quinta da Vala was ons gastvrije verblijf! Alles wat je nodig hebt is er. Enorm veel ruimte, zowel in als om het huis. Citrusbomen in de tuin, waarvan we naar hartelust mochten plukken. Uit de groentetuin werd ons regelmatig e.e.a. aangeboden! Een prachtig zwembad en veel speelmogelijkheden voor de kinderen (en volwassenen)! Het huis ligt bovendien in een prachtig natuurgebied, dus ook de omgeving was helemaal oké! Kortom, woorden schieten eigenlijk tekort! Dankjewel Cristina, dat je deze mooie plek even met ons wilde delen!

Summary: The villa was to our liking and well equiped. The large terrace was the focal point of our use of the villa. The grounds provide ample safe areas for children to play and explore with supervision. The villa was however in need of some maintenenance. Easy access to good and safe beaches was a plus. Also, the location was quiet and offered privacy. The swimming pool would have benefited from being heated.
