Our newly-renovated cabin has all the comforts of home, just nestled away in the WV mountains surrounded by old-growth forest bustling with wildlife. Blue Owl Retreat is fun for couples, families, or groups of friends -- and is the perfect home base for your getaway!
The cabin includes:
- Outdoor hot tub perfect for relaxing
- Two bedrooms – each with a queen bed – plus a sleeper sofa in the living room
- A spacious covered deck for relaxing and grilling (with a new gas grill)
- Fast, reliable WiFi that’s more than enough to stream movies and hold video calls
- Indoor wood-burning brick fireplace – the perfect place to cozy up at night
- AC and electric heat to keep you comfortable, no matter the weather
- Open main room with plenty of natural light
- Outdoor fire pit to wind down the evening with s’mores!
- An outdoor yard game treasure box full of activities for kids and adults: corn hole, volleyball, soccer and kick balls, horseshoes, and many more!
We often take our three little kids and dog to the cabin with us, so we're very family- and dog-friendly. Unfortunately we don't allow cats (we're allergic).
Our cleaning team sweeps the deck, stairs, and walkways before each arrival, but due to the natural setting, you may still notice some leaves, pollen, or similar—especially during certain seasons. We appreciate your understanding as nature tends to leave its mark, no matter how often we tidy up!
Directly behind the cabin is the Sleepy Creek Wildlife Management Area: nearly 23,000 acres of old-growth forest that’s full of wildlife. You’ll wake up every morning to hear the birds chirping and chipmunks chattering away – and we often see deer, foxes, rabbits, turkeys, and even the occasional bear. If you’re looking to get out of the city and recharge in nature, this is the perfect place. (And the best part is you’re only 15 minutes from town!)
Beyond the cabin itself, the Hedgesville / Berkeley Springs area is great for so many reasons -- and Blue Owl Retreat is just a short drive to everything. The Woods is one of the top golf courses in the state, with a wonderful spa, hiking trails, and a restaurant/pub as well. And the town of Berkeley Springs has been voted one of the top arts communities in the US, with dozens of shops and restaurants, and even a brewery and winery!

Summary: The Blue Owl Cabin was very nice. The beds were comfortable. Secluded and secure with a big wrap around porch. The hot tub was a great bonus to use. Plan on staying there again.

Summary: Enjoyed a nice sister weekend. Had all we needed to relax and enjoy ourselves. Communication was great. Quickly took care of a minor issue with the hot tub. Beds clean and comfortable. Close to Berkeley Springs for restaurants and other amenities. Would definitely return.

Summary: It's a nice cabin with clean beds, good water pressure, easy to drive to, well stocked kitchen, clean Jacuzzi and beautiful location. We saw deer everyday and the host was great. We would stay here again.

Summary: Clean, comfortable, tasteful and well-organized house. Great kitchen with everything you need. We especially loved the fireplace and the hot tub. A small herd of deer grazed every afternoon in the yard. We visited Martinsburg and Berkeley Springs. Communication with the host was a breeze. Thank you!

Summary: The community lake area is small but clean and nice. We enjoyed the large TV in the living room and comfortable couch. Beds were also comfortable. Manager was prompt to respond to communications, and sent many long informational texts throughout our stay. Kitchen was stocked with the essentials, though water pressure was strangely low in all sinks. The neighborhood is mostly calm and quiet, but we were able to hear creepy music from the neighbors while using the firepit. We were disappointed to find the hot tub filled with leaves and sand which we had to clean out before using. The lawn was very overgrown and unkept. The wall in the bathroom is rotting out between the toilet and shower. We were unable to run the window AC units for most of our stay due to water pooling and draining into the bedrooms. Overall our stay was fine, but we will look for a different property next time we are in the area.
