5 Bedroom House in Stanley

The 150-acre Sawtooth Valley Ranch is an ideal retreat for families and friends. The compound offers lots of privacy and recreation in a beautiful park-like setting surrounded by acres of manicured lawns, trees and a large pond stocked with rainbow trout. The famous Salmon River runs just below the foot of the property where you can fish for miles up and down its banks.
The main house has unobstructed gorgeous views from all rooms of the spectacular Sawtooth Mountains. The log home was featured in Log Home Living Magazine and sleeps 12 including the guest quarters. With panoramic views in all directions, it inspires, refreshes and quiets your soul. In the summertime, you can sleep with the windows open and hear the creek as it meanders its way to the moonlit pond. Stroll the grounds with a cup of coffee in the stillness of the morning and realize that this is how we were meant to greet each day. Relax in a rocking chair on the back porch and watch the ranch horses suddenly pick and race across the pasture, just because they can. The expansive lawn is great for football games, capture the flag or you can try your skill on our regulation-sized croquet court. We also have a fun horseshoe pit, and are located along the famous Fisher Creek / Williams Creek mountain biking loop. Nearby within minutes are fabulous lakes and hiking trails including hikes right off the ranch. You can also arrange to ride horses from a nearby outfitter. Within a 10 minute drive is world renowned Redfish Lake which offers an abundance of day activities and fabulous hikes.
The Ranch is situated in the heart of the Sawtooth National Recreation Area. They say that the Sawtooth Valley is “the West the way you’ve always imagined it would be.” From the great room, dining room and master are spectacular views of the jagged Sawtooth Mountains with peaks towering to 10,000 feet and on the other side, the White Clouds with peaks to 11,000 feet. The ranch is situated in the middle of the Sawtooth Valley, which runs about 20 miles long and one to two miles wide. There are over 50 alpine lakes within 5 miles of the ranch and too many creeks to count -- offering dozens of great day hikes and mountain biking trails.
At the northern end of the valley, and 12 miles from the ranch, is Stanley -- the staging area for rafting the Salmon River. Stanley also offers a number of restaurants that while rustic in décor serve up delicious entrees. More refined dining is available at Redfish Lake Lodge and Idaho Rocky Mountain ranch, both of which take outside diners. At the Southern end of the valley, about 12 miles from the ranch is the outpost of Smiley Creek with great hamburgers and milk shakes. Just 45 minutes south of the ranch is world famous Sun Valley which offers fabulous skiing, golfing, trap shooting – you name it.
Sorry but we do not do weddings or allow dogs.
MAIN HOUSE (Sleeps 8)
The two-story main log house has been featured in Log Home Living Magazine and offers drop-dead views of the Sawtooth Mountain Range from every room in the house. The cozy Great Room has two facing leather sofas, antique wagon wheel chairs and a massive stone fireplace with game table. Adjacent is the dining room with log table that seats 10 in comfortable padded hickory chairs. The gourmet kitchen has recently been expanded to encompass 370 SF and offers a new gas Wolfe Range, Sub Zero, and a rustic island for prep work with bar stools for conversation. Stone back splashes and stainless steel counter tops complete the ranch-kitchen feel. Off the kitchen is a charming breakfast nook with beautiful views and lots of morning sunlight.
The master bedroom and bath is downstairs with private deck. Upstairs are two bedrooms, one with twin beds and the other with a queen and twin bed all with Ralph Lauren fabrics. There is a full bathroom upstairs along with a loft and another twin bed.
GUEST BARN (Sleeps 4)
A pathway over a stream connects the main house to the barn with its guest quarters. Upstairs in the barn is a two bedroom guest quarters and full bathroom. One bedroom offers a log queen bed and the other offers two twin beds. Downstairs is a family room with satellite TV and DSL connection.
Both the Main House and Barn are furnished in western antiques, log furniture and Ralph Lauren and Pendleton fabrics and bedding.

Summary: I hesitate to write a review only because I don't want the secret to get out! Sawtooth Valley Ranch is a truly magical experience for anyone. My family stayed there (5 adults, 4 children and we had room to spare) for this past week and cannot wait to go back. The Lawler family has outfitted this home to perfection. Each bedroom is comfortable and cosy, offering quiet space in the midst of a big family gathering. The living spaces are wide open with gorgeous views. The sprawling lawn leading to the pond was the perfect place for the kids (6 and under) to run, run, run and play for hours. Cocktails on the porch watching the sunset over the Sawtooth Mountains was stunning. And the spot is a terrific location for exploring the Valley. This is a must-do for any group looking for a way to escape the pace of city life and truly revel in the Idaho experience.

Summary: I have stayed at this wonderful ranch several times and love it! The beds are so comfy, great amenities in every room from kitchen to baths and beyond. To get up in the morning and walk out to the lake with your morning coffee or just sit on the veranda, the view will knock your sox off! Access to the best hiking or biking trail is just a minute away. You won't need to drive anywhere unless you want to float down the river. You can't go wrong with this ranch!! Go!

Summary: A group of us over 50 guys spent a long weekend at this awesome place. It easily and comfortably fit 10 of us. This place is fully outfitted and very comfortable while not being too fancy. We ate well, cooking easy stuff on the grill and in the kitchen. We played cards, horse shoes, fished in the pond, hiked and hung out watching incredible Sawtooth sunsets telling stories the entire time, most of them with some sliver of truth. During the days we found easy access and thrills rafting the Salmon River out of Stanley and trail riding in the Sawtooth Mountains. We plan to go back again this year.

Summary: I visited this beautiful property last June. The sunsets over the towering Sawtooths take your breath away. It was the perfect spot to "unwind my southern cal stress" The main house is warm and comfy and has an eclectic collection of American Western ornamental articles throughout. Great place to get your kids off their cell phones and I-Pads and get them to appreciate the beauty and wonders of nature. I found myself waking up in the morning catching a trout on the pond in front of the house, making a hearty breakfast of trout, eggs , bacon and biscuits then taking a nice long hike into the valley behind the property and seeing sheepherders protecting their flock. Lunch at Redfish lake and a nice bike ride. You can do it all here. I plan to come back.

Summary: This home welcomed us in a way we have never experienced before. The feeling you get as you enter the driveway is one you'll remember and want to come back for. Before reaching the house you'll pass a beautifully converted barn where two bedrooms and game room can be found. In the main house you will find the other bedrooms and loft as well as large open gathering spaces for friends and family. A giant picture window in the living room brings in the outside while a door leads you to a large wrap around porch with rocking chairs pointed out to fantastic views of rolling greens and majestic mountains. This place was perfect for our friend reunion! Near by you'll find horseback riding, river rafting, hiking and a lake to swim and boat in. Our group enjoyed cooking at home most nights but did have two great dinners in Sun Valley. My husband and our friends plan to make this our yearly retreat! Thank you for sharing your slice of heaven with us!

Summary: Spectacular might be an overused word, but it is the best word I can think of to describe the experience of staying at this ranch. The views of the mountains are amazing. We fished, we hiked, we played horseshoes and we drank a lot of coffee sitting on the porch looking out at the mountains. I slept in the barn and my buddies slept in the house. I'm not sure who got the best end of the deal. The barn was very quiet and comfortable. The rooms in the house were also very well done. Where you slept was a no lose proposition. The kitchen was very conducive to cooking country style meals. Even those of us who seldom cook really enjoyed the experience. All in all, this ranch is perfect for a real cowboy or a "city slicker" like me.
